The New York Yankees are winning the 2021 Trade Deadline

 Brian Cashman has just shown that the resting giant has officially awoken at the 2021 trade deadline. In the span of the 24 hours, Cashman has traded the depth of the farm system for Joey Gallo and Anthony Rizzo to bolster the Bomber lineup for this year’s playoff push. Following a 14-0 drubbing the Yankee front office hit the phones again to get reinforcements to help a team that is still searching for an identity as the calendar turns to August. Gallo and Rizzo give this team an identity. Gallo is a hungry slugger who has a lot to prove for the team he grew up rooting for. Rizzo is a proven big game player who is looking to show that his best days are not behind him. Both Gallo and Rizzo are lefty bats to balance a heavily right-handed lineup, both get on base a ton (Rizzo .346 OBP, Gallo .379 OBP who also leads the majors in walks) and will use the short porch in right to add dollar signs to their next respective contracts. This baseball season is historic

Baseball is as fun as it has ever been. I know that everyone over the age of 35 just clicked out of this column; it was nice having you! Everyone, it’s okay, sit down, and disregard the urge to want to scream about how the Yale MBA’s have ruin the game. Breathe. The game is fun. If you’re still not following me, let me give you three generational examples that are playing the game at the highest level nightly. First up is Jacob deGrom. The two-time Cy Young winner is having his best season yet. The Amazin’ right-hander is on pace to dethrone Bob Gibson as the ERA king. Even with deGrom’s “bad” start in Atlanta right before the 4 th of July, his ERA is still 0.95. After giving up three runs and looking mortal, deGrom still had 14 punch outs and pitched seven innings. There have been years where there is a guy close to Gibson’s record, but never like this. deGrom looks like he could coast to this record without ever breaking a sweat.
