NY in 500 II

What a weekend in Big Apple sports! Crazy plays, key injuries and good wins highlight another fun weekend being a New York Sports fan. The Knicks and Nets both won over the weekend with games that might show that the tides are turning for both of the teams. The Knicks first, Melo lead the 7-6 Knicks into Houston to face a very confusing Houston team. James Harden did his thing and had twenty four points. Kristaps Prozingis showed up with a double double. Prozingis also had twenty four points, but also collected fourteen rebounds to help the Knicks get a much needed five point win. On Sunday in Brooklyn the Nets had a very impressive win against the C’s. Brook Lopez has a big part of that with a double double that consisted of twenty four points and ten boards. Jared Jack also had his best game of the year with twenty two points, four assists, and four rebounds. Joe Johnson, and rookie Rondae Hollis-Jefferson chipped in with seventeen points, and nine points respectively. Thaddeus Yo

Thursday, Sunday, and Monday Game balls

Long crazy week of football. It started in Jacksonville Florida with another ugly color rush game. Tennessee couldn't really get anything on offense through out the whole game. "Super Mario" Marcus Mariota did everything he could with two hundred and thirty one yards passing and was 22/35 while twenty nine yards on the ground with the Titans only touchdown. The Titans most recent top pick has been everything that Tennessee needs for the future, the Titans just need to get some weapons around him. The Jaguars first round pick in last years draft Blake Bortles had another good week and keeps growing into a very nice NFL Quarterback. However it was a second year player on the defense Aaron Colvin who made the biggest difference in the game and is my Thursday game ball. Colvin was tied for the second most tackles with seven and he had a huge sack on Mariota. Colvin is a defensive back and showed that he has some game guarding the Titans Dorial Green-Beckham pretty much the wh

AL/NL Rookie of the year and Cy Young Awards

This morning the awards for the 2015 baseball season were announced starting with the AL/NL Rookie of the year which was announced. The winners were Carlos Correa who played in only ninety nine games and on top the fact is only twenty years old! Correa batted .279 with twenty two homers and sixty eight RBI's helping Houston to win the Wild Card Game against the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium to put Houston in the playoffs for the first time since 2005 when another Carlos (Carlos Beltran) propelled them into the World Series eventually losing to the Chicago White Sox. For Correa and the 2015 Astros they lost in the ALDS to the now World Series Champs Kansas City Royals in five games. In the Senior Circuit Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant took home the hardware batting .275 with twenty six homers and ninety nine runs batted in, being the anchor in the Cubs lineup for pretty much the whole season after the drama with him not being called up straight out of Spring Training. T

Kimbrel to the Sox, K-rod to the Tigers, and Kinsler to the Bronx?

Busy, busy past couple of days in our national past time. The Red Sox have acquired Craig Krimbel form the San Diego Padres in exchange outfielder Manuel Margot(#25 ranked player in the Red Sox system), shortstop Javier Guerra(#76 in the Red Sox system), infielder Carlos Asuaje, and lefty Logan Allen. Kimbrel last season had thirty nine with a 2.58 ERA in sixty one games collecting 87/22 strike outs to walks. Margot last season for the Double A Sea Dogs had a .271 average with three homers and thirty three RBI's, and swiping thirteen bases. Guerra batted .279 with fifteen home runs and sixty eight RBI's in Single A Greenville. Asuaje in Double A batted .251 with eight homers and sixty one RBI's. Allen with two teams had a 1.11 ERA in eight games and twenty six strikes outs and only one walk. The Padres are clearly trading for the future as they have already traded Beniot to Seattle earlier last week. In Detroit the trade for K-rod aka Francisco Rodriguez for Javier Betanco

Nets get revenge

It has been done. The Brooklyn Nets have gotten their revenge and their second win of the year. A year ago the Atlanta Hawks eliminated the Nets from the playoffs in 5 games. They also lost on November 4th against the Hawks 101-87 in Atlanta. Tonight thanks to a double double from Brook Lopez, who had twenty four points and ten boards. Joe Johnson also messed around and almost got a triple double. Johnson finished with thirteen points, nine assists, and seven rebounds. Thaddeus Young also had a double double with sixteen points and eleven rebounds, which included the two most important points--two free throws with 2.4 seconds left in the game. On the other sideline Al Horford had eighteen points and five boards. Atlanta had twenty turnovers that helped Brooklyn in their two point victory. The Nets next game is at Charlotte on Wednesday, Atlanta plays the Kings at home on Wednesday. Sources:(nba.com, espn.com) Don't forget to follow, like, comment, and share on your way out!

NY weekend in 500

Welcome to a new series of post that I will be doing called NY Weekend in 500. I will break down the busy weekend of New York sports in only 500 words. Here is the first installment: Busy weekend of sports in Gotham City. Melo yesterday lead the struggling Knicks over Anthony Davis’ Pelicans. Melo dropped twenty nine with thirteen boards. Davis had thirty six and eleven. In football the Jets lost a golden opportunity to beat Rex Ryan and the Bills, if they only took their points and kicked them deep with just over two to play. Surprisingly the Jets were still in it after giving the ball away three times in the game. Some missed tackles and poor coverage by Derelle Revis led to them losing, but you could argue if Watkins doesn’t get the first on that play the Jets would have had a chance with two great receivers and an up and coming running back if they needed to use Ivory at all on a possible last drive. But, let’s take a minute to dissect what might have happened if the Jets kicked a

The Color Blind Game, catch or no catch? Thursday/Sunday game balls

What a wild weekend of football. Once again football fans are reminded that the catch rule is a case by case rule instead of a pillar of the game, the injury bug strikes again, and black and white tv is relevant. To start off on Thursday, about 8% of the American public could not watch the game. Not to do with any black outs or anything, but the color of the jerseys that the Bills and Jets had on. The Bills went with a very bright red almost orange color (jersey and pants) and the Jets had a bright christmasish green(jersey and pants). The problem with that as members of my family found out along with the other 8% that because of a persons red/green color blindness the players look like they are wearing grey jerseys and a red/green color blind person is basically looking at a black and white inter-squad practice. The New York Times put up a very nice picture of what it would look like for someone with this, and honestly it is almost impossible to tell who is who. Now what this was aim

Atlanta makes a splash

If case you haven't heard by now the Atlanta Braves have traded shortstop Andrelton Simmons to the Angels for shortstop Erick Aybar, southpaw Sean Newcomb, right hander Chris Ellis, and cash. The Angels also get catcher Jose Briceno. Los Angeles is getting arguably the best defensive player in the game in Simmons. Simmons last year batted .265 with 4 homers, 44 RBI's, and 5/8 on stolen bases. That isn't why the Angles got him though, Simmons the has won two gold gloves in four seasons and the past two years has won the defensive player of the year at shortstop. The Angels add another stud in the infield and a player that can round out their lineup in the eight or nine hole.  Newcomb last season went 2-2 with a 2.75 ERA with 39 strike outs in 36 innings while in Double A Arkansas. Ellis also on Double A Arkansas last year went 7-4 with a 3.92 ERA with 62 strike outs in 78 innings. Erik Aybar batted .270 with 3 homers, 44 RBI's and 15/21 on stolen bases. Aybar a speed guy

Seattle jumps into the trade pool

Yesterday it was all about the Yankees making deals. Today the trade news has been focused around the Red Sox outfielder Jakie Bradley Jr. and were he was going to go. The Mariners, Cubs, and Royals among the teams interested. San Diego makes another deal after picking up Jose Pierla, they get two Class A prospects for Joaquin Benoit. Seattle gets a big arm that they can use to lock up the back end of that pen. The Mariners have taken a page out of Kansas City's book creating a stacked back end of the bullpen. The Padres get a big arm that is about four years away in right hander Enyel De Los Santos, who went 6-0 with a 3.47 ERA in 13 games. San Diego also picked up Nelson Ward a infielder that looks like a utility player but way in the future. Ward batted .282 with 7 home runs and 39 RBI's while stealing 8/11 bases. He looks like he will be playing in Double A San Antonio next season. From the Mariners point of view that get another veteran that can go into that clubhouse and

The Yanks are not done yet!

Breaking: The New York Yankees and GM Brian Cashman are on fire today making another trade to improve the ball club. After critics taunted Cashman for an "Non-Yankee like" past couple of off-seasons and trade deadlines, Cashman has responded with a great big Bronx Boom. Cashman has already made a deal for Ronald Herrera from the Padres. Now they have made a deal with Minnesota to get outfielder Aaron Hicks, who had a really good 2015.In exchange the Yankees will be sending catcher John Ryan Murphy. Murphy had a break out 2015 showing that he can call a good game behind the plate and he can hold his own up at the dish. Murphy in 67 games batted .277 with 3 homers and 14 RBI's.Murphy also threw out 28% of the runners who attempted to steal on him. The league average last season was 30%. Hicks in 97 games batted .256 with 13 home runs and 33 RBI's while also swiping 13 bases and only getting caught 3 times. Hicks is a young outfielder that has his best years ahead of him

Yankees trade for another arm

Breaking: The New York Yankees have traded utility player Jose Pierla to the Padres for right hander Ronald Herrera. Herrera last season posted a 3-1 record with a 4.53 ERA in eight games, along with 35 strike outs and only 14 walks. Pierla one of the bombers young up and comers. Pierla last season got off to an amazing start in Spring Training, but suffered a concussion running into the center field wall at George M. Steinbrenner field in Tampa. After his return to baseball he got called up and played in 35 games for the yanks. Piera hit .230 with 1 homer and 8 RBI's in only 74 at-bats. It's sad to see a player with promise go, but this trade does provide the Yankees to get younger and develop a deeper bullpen. Week 9 Thursday and Sunday Game balls

Week 9 was a very explosive and exciting week of football. It started with a good game in Cincinnati with the Bengals winning 31-10. Johnny Manziel had a very good game even though the Browns lost Manziel showed a lot of promise while he was out there. Manziel went 15/33 for 168 and a passing touchdown. Johnny Football has looked very impressive and explosive when he has opportunities this season. However, my Thursday game ball for Week 9 is Andy Dalton for his officiant passing and his 3 touchdown. Dalton went 21/27 for 234 and those 3 scores. Dalton and the Bengals looked a bit shaky in the first half but roared ahead in the second half scoring 17 unanswered points to take the victory.  For a very busy Sunday with a ton of scoring all over the place and a very entertaining Shootout Sunday Night Game in Dallas coming down to an overtime period. Delanie Walker went crazy down in the Big Easy with 7 catches for 95 yards and 2 Touchdowns. DeAngelo Williams had 27 carries for 2 scores

Alexei Ramirez is now a Free Agent

Just hours ago, news came out of Chicago that the White Sox shortstop Alexei Ramirez will not be on the 2016 Opening Day roster. Ramirez has spent his entire eight year career on the South side of Chicago. Ramirez might get payed this off-season even after a career low .249 batting average. Teams like the Yankees, Mets, Nationals, Padres, Mariners, and Tigers are all looking for a decent shortstop to make a contribution to propel them into the playoffs. Ramirez a career .273 hitter with a plus glove and decent speed will be heavily targeted late in the off-season. Players like Cueto, Greinke, Davis, and Hayward will all get signed before him, but some cash could be coming Ramirez' way come late January early February. Congratulations to the Kansas City Royals

A huge congratulations to Kansas City who brought home their second World Series title in franchise history, and the first since 1985. In the past I have compared this team to the 1996 New York Yankees, and now my view is validated with a World Series Championship. By no means am I a Royals fan, I just really love the way Ned Yost manages a game, and how the Royals play ball. I think that is the right way to play the game of baseball, and this team will have tremendous success in the future. The core of Hosmer, Perez, Moustakas, Cain, Gordon, and Holland are all young. Perez is the World Series MVP, one year after popping up to Pablo Sandoval in foul territory just outside the third base coaching box. This team was built through the draft with not a ton of money spent. This past off-season Kansas City spent a total of $68.425 Million for eight players. Of those eight they include Volquez, Morales, Rios, and Hochevar. Along with those players and that core the Royals would win their fir

AL Wildcard Game

Get your popcorn ready as playoffs are finally upon us. Tonight at 8 on ESPN the (83-75) New York Yankees host the  (86-76) Houston Astros. Keep in mind the last time that Houston was in the playoffs was 2005 and they played in the World Series against the Chicago White Sox. This is the first time the Yankees have been in the since 2011 when Derek Jeter broke his ankle in the ALCS. But, This is not 2005 or 2011 this two teams are very different then those. Carlos Beltran is playing in the playoffs once again. Beltran has sixteen home runs and forty RBI's in the post season along with .333 batting average. Both teams are very similar in more ways then one. Both Teams are in the top in home runs as a team. Houston as a team had two hundred and thirty as a team, and two hundred and twelve for the Yanks. However the Astros are also the league leader in strikeouts as a team with one thousand three hundred and ninety two. However, both teams are very different. The Astros have a Cy Youn

Back to a familiar place and in uncharted territory

So the Yankees are back in the postseason. While they clinched tonight, they also won their ten thousandth game as a franchise which has not been met by any sports franchise in any sport. Which is an unspeakable number of wins, and puts them as the number one franchise in sports history just based solely on wins and championships. But for the here and now New York Yankees they have their problems that will be answered for real in the post season. We all know the bullpen is lock down and will be in the post season. The power in the middle of the lineup is going to have to show up, and so do the base stealers. In the post season hitting is so important because you are facing the best pitchers in the most important games of the season. Keep in mind as well they only clinched a spot in the Wild Card game. It is in Yankee Stadium and Masahiro Tanaka on the mound. Tanaka only has to go six or seven innings before the 'pen takes over. Gardner who had the best season of his career needs to

Thursday Game ball and Update

What a game in Pittsburgh, an instant classic. Joe Flacco who is one of those quarterbacks that is starting to get into his prime years of his career. The Ravens this year up to this point are a band of misfits. Steve Smith their leading receiver went down with a lower back contusion. Terrell Suggs their defensive anchor went down in week 1. BUT, oh has this defense stepped up to the occasion. C.J. Mosley has been playing absolutely out of his mind lately and Will Hill has become an absolute beast of a safety for Baltimore. With that said however the Steelers had their chances. Josh Scobee who has been in the league for what seems like thirty years and has hit insanely long field goals missed two field goals that would have put the game away, and he missed both in a matter of minutes on back to back attempts. That would latter effect the Steelers as twice(once in regulation) as they would keep Scobee on the sideline and go for it on fourth. Mike Tomlin is one of those coaches that goes

Thursday's Game Ball

Thursday Night always seems to have some drama. This week it was only for a little while but nevertheless it entertaining. Eli finally found his stride, and the defense showed some life against a battered Redskins offense. Odell Beckham Jr. continues to surprise us with the catches he makes, and with his brand new dance moves. He had a good game with seven catches for seventy-nine yards and that all important jumping TD catch. Eli shredded a skins defense who lost Pro-Bowl corner DeAngelo Hall to a toe injury. Eli threw for two hundred seventy-nine yards and two scores. Meanwhile Ruben Randle had himself a day, and is my game ball recipient. Randle had seven catches for a hundred and sixteen and a touchdown. He also made a very nice catch off the tip-drill before scampering into the endzone. Thursday and Sunday game ball and much more

This past week was an insane week of football. Big Ben carved the 9er's defense, Tony Romo injuries his left clavicle, Jay Cutler injures his hamstring. Also Johnny Football gets his first win as a quarterback in the NFL, Tampa Bay upsets the Saints in New Orleans, Derek Carr leads a 4th quarter comeback in Oakland, and A-Rod finally gets some revenge on Seattle. First I have to cover the key injuries. Jay Cutler is out at least two weeks with a hamstring that he suffered after he threw an interception late in the second quarter yesterday. Tomo Romo injured his left clavicle, he suffered in the third quarter and is said that he is going to miss about eight weeks. That will be a huge miss for the Cowboys already without Dez Bryant for most of the season. Also it is said that Drew Brees has a shoulder injury and it is unclear how many games he is going to miss. Meanwhile, after a terrible loss at home the Raiders came back in the fourth quarter late to beat the ravens who had the

The dominance in Texas is back

What a week for the city of Arlington. First the Cowboys comeback in grand style late to win the game on Sunday. Then just two days later the Texas Rangers walk off into first place on a Mitch Moreland sac fly in the bottom of the ninth. The Rangers who were seven games back at the trade deadline and after they acquired Cole Hamles. Since the trade deadline they have a .444 winning percentage winning 27 games and only losing 12 games during that span. Price Fielder has been a huge part of winning being the veteran presence in that locker room. Adrian Beltre hasn't shown any signs of slowing down hitting .282 this season with 15 bombs and 57 RBI's. Josh Hamilton has been great player since the All-Star break, Batting .266 with 3 homers. Cole Hamels since the trade has been a warrior in Arlington since he got traded, which is weird because the Rangers ballpark is a hitters ballpark. The Rangers are back to old form from the 2010-2011 when they went to back to back World Series.

Revealing Monday Night and Game Ball

What a Monday night! Crazy game in Atlanta, Bradford looked good besides the 2 picks, Coleman for the Falcons looked like a young Michel Turner. Julio Jones showed a new side becoming Matty Ices' favorite target and more of a possession receiver, rather than a vertical threat. However, Jones would have had way more yards last night if the Falcons didn't commit so many holding penalties. Really the whole league needs to work on holding because it seemed to me that there was way too many holding penalties. Maybe the refs have that as a point of interest that they need to call. Maybe, just maybe but the league does need to adjust. In the other Monday Night game, special teams were a concern. The 49er's had a kicked blocked on their first possession, and muffed a punt to give Minnesota great field position. Minnesota on their first possession missed a field goal, and later in the game shanked a punt (luck-ally that punt was fumbled by San Fran). The running game which everyon

What Happened in the Bronx!?

While most of you were rained in on Saturday and watching football yesterday, the Bronx Bombers pretty much decided their fate for the division. On Saturday, the Yanks and Blue Jays fought long and hard for 11 innings in the first game hitting 7 home runs and scoring at while against each other. It had the atmosphere of a playoff game and almost as much as a September series with the Red Sox. But the Jays broke throw for 5 in the top the 11th against Brian Mitchell. Then the Jays were not done as they break out 6 in the second inning. The Jays also extended their AL East lead to 4 and a half games with the sweep of the double header. The 2 run bomb from Edwin Encarnacion was to me the deciding factor in the game. The Yankees were forced to use their bullpen after that to save the game in hope of winning and shaving the lead done to a game and a half. The inning with Mitchell is going to happen because he is a  young inexperienced pitcher who is coming back from a scary moment were he t

Insane Opening Sunday of football plus Game Day

Absolutely crazy opening week for the NFL yesterday. Where to start there are so many story lines from yesterday it might have been hard to follow last night. Defense was an important topic yesterday. If you are teams like San Diego, or Denver defense saved the game for you. If your waking up as a Giant you might be to happy with your defense. Speaking of the Giants that has to be the hot topic this morning from everything that happened yesterday. I have to ask, does what the Giants did last--night passing the ball, in a way remind anyone of what Seattle did in the Super Bowl just seven months ago? If you fell asleep during the game, the Giants got the ball with 5:08 to play in the game and drained the clock until the 2 minute warning where they were on Dallas' 20. On 3rd and 14 Eli throws a dime to Odell Beckham Jr, putting the ball on the 4 yard line. Game over right? Wrong, this is only when it starts to get good. The Giants give the ball to Reshad Jennings twice and waste the

BREAKING:Mark Teixeira is done for the year

Some bad bad news coming out of the Bronx as there All-Star First baseman has a fracture in his shin that is causing him to miss the remainder of the season. This means Greg Bird the sensational rookie replacement will be the everyday first baseman on a playoff team. It's a ton of responsibility for a young player, but Bird seems like he can handle the heat. Teixeira was having a great comeback year after a wrist injury caused Tex to miss the majority of the 2014 season. Tex was hitting .255 with 31 homers and 79 RBI's. He for a moment was in the MVP race at the beginning of the year. It is a very sad sight to see another injury for an amazing talent like Teixeira. Next year will be his age 36 season and his second to last under his current contract for the pinstripers. Hopefully Tex can comeback better than every next season and play throw the entire year. Thursday Game Ball

Well well well... Tom Brady showed that he is still one of the greatest that has ever played the game, while giving the NFL a little punch to the chin with his performance. He went 25-32 for 288 and 4 TD's. However, he is not my game ball. It is someone that no one has ever heard of in Dion Lewis. The 5'8'' 24 year old from Pitt had a career night last night. The last time he played before last night was in 2012 for the Philadelphia Eagles,as a backup. The entire season Lewis had 69 rushing yards, and 24 yards receiving. Last night he had 69 rushing on 15 attempts. Lewis also had 51 receiving yards which is 27 more yards then he has ever had in a season. So, Lewis not only went into uncharted waters starting for the defending champs next to one of the greats, he showed the doubters that the Patriots have a running back that can make some noise. Now don't get me wrong he is no Adrian Peterson but he is a nice receiving back that can stay around for a while. Don'

Nathan Eovaldi Shut Down

News broke out of the Bronx after their 8-6 come from behind victory this afternoon. If you haven't seen already Greg Bird hit a three-run shot into the yanks pen in the bottom of the 7th. After the Bombers celebrated 77th victory, they shut down arguably their best pitcher this season in Nathan Eovaldi. Eovaldi has posted a 4.20 ERA in 27 games this season. He is 14-3 in those 27 games. The Yankees are calling it elbow inflammation and are shutting him down for 2 weeks. Now, there are just about a month left in the season so hopefully he can make at least a start or two before the playoffs. Bryan Mitchell who if you remember got stroke in the head with a come backer just a few weeks ago, could be a possible replacement for Eovaldi. This is a very smart move for the Yankees, although it does hurt Eovaldi's chances of winning the Cy Young. Shutting him down allows him to rest up if he does in fact have elbow inflammation. The staff which is struggling at the moment as a unit h

Dwight Howard stopped at Airport for a gun in his bag

Friday Morning, Dwight Howard was catching a 7 AM flight at Intercontinental Airport in Houston, TSA agents found a gun in his carry-on bag. He explained to the police while detained that the gun was for his friend. Howard after further questioning; he gave his gun other to authorities and was released, as well as caught a later flight out of Houston. The police did not press chargers against the Rocket super-star center. The Rockets are aware of the incident and are gathering further information. Seahawks sign Fred Jackson

The Seahawks may have lost the superbowl, but they have had an amazing offseason. They have added Jimmy Graham, Cary Williams, and kept Max Unger. They did lose superbowl XLIX hero Malcolm Smith, and Byron Maxwell a member of the Legion of Boom. With the addition of Jackson they give their offense another good weapon. Seattle can start using 2 back sets and use Jackson as a fullback in some sets. Jackson like Lynch has a pair of with 66 catches for 500 yards last season. Beast Mode can also rest more then he has before because Jackson in Buffalo was the starter in C.J Spillers absence. Pete Carroll has another good player under his belt that likes to compete, and you could see Darren Sproles production from Jackson this season. Not so in the special teams game but some serious numbers. It will be very interesting to see what Seattle can do this season. Like,Comment,Subscribe, and Share on your way out!

Yankees Lose there lead in the AL East, and their cool as a team

So, it's never easy to take a 15-1 punch in the mouth loss like the Yankees did last night. Not to mention the lead in the AL East that was once 7 games. Not to mention the Bronx Bombers have had at least a share of first place since late June. The Blue Jays as many of you know went for blood at the trade deadline. David Price, Ben Revere, and Troy Tulowitzki are the 3 players that Toronto threw their farm system on. The moves have proven to be worth it so far. But for all the band wagoners just keep these few points in mind: The bullpen until recent was one of the worst pens in the league, Tulowitzki's troublesome knee is now on turf. The back end of that rotation is very shaky. Also when it comes time to expand the rosters in a few weeks, the Blue Jays will have very few players that can hold their own, while the starters get needed rest. Now back to the Yankees problems that they need to fix ASAP. The starting rotation besides Edvaldi has been lack luster. This is a rotati

Yankees Pull off Comeback, and Adrian Gonzalez catches fire

What a night in the Bronx and out West last night. The Bombers pulled off a 4-3 win thanks to a late rally in the eighth caped by a Chase Headley bleeder of a single of Blue Jays closer Brett Cecil's forearm. But that wouldn't have meant anything if Russell Martin who is known for his defense didn't misplay a ball and let the tieing run score on the pass ball. Maybe it was a cross up, but I don't know, you usually don't have any cross ups with the bases loaded, but hey it's really early in the year and that stuff happens. Also the Yanks pen locked down the middle of the Jays under right when they had to. The 1-2 punch of Betances and Miller proved deadly last night against possibly the modern day "Murders Row". Betances gets the win and the hold while Miller gets his first save in a Yankee uniform. Meanwhile out in Dodgerland Adrian Gonzalez is absolutely on FIRE! He has 5 Bombs in 3 games and 7 RBI's and is just murdering San Diego pitching. It w

No Black Outs for the NFL this year!

GREAT NEWS!!! For this season there are no local black outs. The NFL is experimenting this season with a new TV policy. For years if your local team didn't sell out tickets to the game the game was locally blacked out. Not this year, the NFL is giving the fans short of a good behavior treat for selling out games. Which is really odd, maybe someone should tell their PR department! The NFL is also experimenting with a game that will only be broadcast online. A week six match-up between the Buffalo Bills and Jacksonville Jaguars is being broadcast nationwide online. My only problem with this is, who is going to watch this game? The teams selected are not going to be title contenders, or playoff teams. Why couldn't the NFL choose a game that the fans would want to see. This is huge news coming out of the NFL's Owners meetings. The league is finding new ways to make the game more convenient for its fans. I think you will see the number of sell outs decrease because of this new

With news of the Rams owner making plans for a 2 team stadium in his property in Inglewood. If you remember Stan Kroenke purchased 60 Acres of land in Hollywood Park. Unlike the Raiders and Chargers who will partner up, the Rams and Kroenke already have the plan in place. The Commissioner said this morning on MMQB.com that the Rams are the most likely to have a team in L.A. This is great news for the league and for Los Angeles football fans. This is going to be a big topic in the owners meeting which starts today and ends on Thursday. I will definitely update you guys on everything coming out of the NFL Owners Meetings. For a long time now I have been trying to find the direction I want my blog to go in and with all this happening in the world of sports why wouldn't I start up again. So with out further ado here are my rankings of all 30 teams in the MLB. #30  Philadelphia Phillies: Sorry Philly, this is just the cruel reality. With players like Chase Utley, Ryan Howard, Cliff Lee showing their age and an unhappy Cole Hamels I just don't know what positive to go on. Yes Ben Revere and Dominic Brown are the faint bright spot in this rebuilding project they still have questions. Revere has very little power, and Brown has the power but is extremely inconsistent. This team will be the worst team and with Hamels possibly out the door soon, if not than by the trading deadline the Fighting Phills are looking at 62-65 wins this season. #29  Colorado Rockies: Yes the Rockie

Houston packs heat for 2015

Houston took a huge step in the right direction yesterday. The Astros acquired power hitting catcher Evan Gattis from the Atlanta Braves. The Braves receive 3 Minor Leaguers. Mike Foltzynewicz, Rio Ruiz, and Andrew Thurman were sent to Atlanta who is trying rebuild their farm system. For Houston they get Gattis who is one of the strongest players, on top of that a pretty good catcher. And if Houston is in dire need of left field help Gattis can play there as well. The 28 year old Gattis has just 2 years in the show and already has hit 20+ homers in each season. The Astros might have snagged a corner piece to their team for very little. Houston didn't even touch their top 20 prospects for a guy who could potentially hit 30 bombs if he is on the field. The Braves yes are hurting in the minors but trading Jayson Hayward and now Evan Gattis who are talents up at the major league level and looked like keystones for Atlanta just last year. Nobody know whats going on with the Braves this

BREAKING NEWS: Just a few hours after Jets sign their new GM, they ink their new Head Coach

So they past 2 hours or so the my New York Jets have gotten busy. Yes, in a couple hours our ex-head coach will be introduced in Buffalo, but bigger things are happening in the Big Apple. After signing Mike Maccagan as their new GM they sign former Arizona Defensive Coordinator Todd Bowles as the next Head Coach of the Jets. Maccagan was in the Texans Origination and looks ready for the job. Bowles yes he is a good mind in football, and a great defensive coordinator. But, that in my opinion that is not what they need. I thought they needed an Offensive mind in charge. Bowles looks deserving of a head coaching job and some of it due to this past season the work he did with the Cardinals. Rex Ryan is a defensive mind one of the best ever but that defense thing didn't work. The Jets still don't have a QB. Chan Gailey former Bills coach will be Bowles OC and I'm unsure about this. Yes he runs the spread offense which I believe the Jets will run really well, but he had E.J Manue

Divisonal Round Game ball and should the NFL review their refs

"The following play is under review" seemed to be the saying of the weekend. With the Divisional Round now behind us, its not the players or coaches under the microscope its the refs. But before I get on that topic, let me give out my game ball. This weekend was full of excitement weather it was from the upset in Denver, the trick play in Foxboro, the "Catch" on the Frozen Tundra, or the yelling of the 12th man in Seattle, you got what you payed for this weekend. This past weekend is what playoff football should look like, Giant performances all over the field. Kam Chancellor who had 11 total tackles and a 90 yard clinching Pic 6 against Cam Newton and the Panthers. The whole Seahawks defense is back to their form from last years Super Bowl team. Chancellor led the charge and that's why he gets the ball this week. The Legion of Boom is flying around the field like nobody's business. They are back and look primed to repeat. Now onto the other situation going

The Knicks make a splash

So if any of been under a rock for the last day or so I will be the first to tell you that J.R Smith and Iman Shumpert are on their way to Cleveland, while Dion Waiters is heading to OKC. The Knicks get Lou Amundson, Alex Kirk, and a 2019 Second-round pick from the Cavs. Lance Thomas goes from Oklahoma City to the Knicks as well. Cleveland also gets OKC's protected first-rounder in 2015. This trade as I am looking at it is just one sided. Cleveland is going all out this year for LeBron trying to bring James' dream of a Championship in his home town a reality. Not only do they get a first round pick this year, but they get a good 6th man off the bench in J.R. Smith, and who knows maybe a change in scenery will be all Smith needs. The Cavilers also know have 2 of the best perimeter defenders in the league, with Lebron James and now Iman Shumpert. Shumpert who was thrown all around trade rumors last year finally goes this year. For the Thunder they improve at the position that i

Can we be going to a football game in Los Angles very soon?

St.Louis Rams owner Stan Kroenke plans on bringing football back to the City of Angles. Stockbridge Capital group is backing Kroenke for this plan. Kroenke has a meeting with the city of St.Louis to build a new stadium in St.Louis. This meeting should be interesting. Its been almost a year this Stan Kroenke bought 60 Acres of land in Hollywood Park. Before the Rams showed interest in Hollywood Park it was an old horse raceway. With this move in mind for the Rams, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said no one was moving to L.A. or any place in 2015. Plus the way the collective bargaining agreement is now its a 2 year plan and they have to prove to the NFL that they tried to build a new stadium in St.Louis. Back to those meetings, how will Kroenke break the news to the mayor, and what will the mayor say to the NFL. It would be very exciting for L.A, and the NFL to see a team back there. NFL Network Headquarters are their along with NFL.com so it be cool to see what they do, with that. Stoc

Rest in Peace Stuart Scott

Yesterday morning the Sports world got horrible news. Long time ESPN Anchor Stuart Scott passed away due to a battle with cancer. Scott who was a stand out character on a network that changed the sports world as we know it and he was apart of leading the movement. Scott is a man on TV that people could relate because he started bringing sports to a new audience, and took of the hearts of the people already watching. His is the anchor that people stayed up to watch and his famous "BOOYAH" rings through our heads as we fall asleep. Stuart Scott brought energy to everything he did. The way he acted on Sportscenter it was like you were in a diner on a Sunday morning talking sports with your buddy over coffee. This is a man my dad watched and brothers and I watched before school in the morning, and laughed along at his comments. I don't know what else to say about a great man who brought smiles to millions of people. R.I.P. Stuart Scott, my condolences to your family

Wildcard Weekend Recap and Game ball

The playoffs began on Saturday and it began with a bang. Carolina who nobody thought would escape the first round, played the best football of the year at the right time. Carolina who is getting healthy at the right time are hitting their stride, and playing the type of football that they played when they were at their best last year. Baltimore's here to stay with a convincing win against Pittsburgh in the Big Ketchup Bottle. Indianapolis who destroyed Cincinnati and everybody but Bengals fans saw it coming. Cincinnati who was missing to many play makers on offense to compete with a team like the Colts. The call of the playoffs maybe screwed the Lions who saw their 13 point slip out of their hands. Tony Romo final got it done by winning a playoff game. However, Dallas and its fan need to calm down because the probable MVP is waiting up in his house. With all that said it time for the game ball. Daniel Herron, a no-named running back had a great game even though he fumbled. I think
