The Knicks make a splash

So if any of been under a rock for the last day or so I will be the first to tell you that J.R Smith and Iman Shumpert are on their way to Cleveland, while Dion Waiters is heading to OKC. The Knicks get Lou Amundson, Alex Kirk, and a 2019 Second-round pick from the Cavs. Lance Thomas goes from Oklahoma City to the Knicks as well. Cleveland also gets OKC's protected first-rounder in 2015.
This trade as I am looking at it is just one sided. Cleveland is going all out this year for LeBron trying to bring James' dream of a Championship in his home town a reality. Not only do they get a first round pick this year, but they get a good 6th man off the bench in J.R. Smith, and who knows maybe a change in scenery will be all Smith needs. The Cavilers also know have 2 of the best perimeter defenders in the league, with Lebron James and now Iman Shumpert. Shumpert who was thrown all around trade rumors last year finally goes this year.
For the Thunder they improve at the position that is the weakest on the squad. Waiters is a good player, but what they gave up is not. Yes, I think the Thunder can live without Lance Thomas, but to give a Champion contender a protected first round pick for next year, where they can potentially be coming off a championship is a little risky. Waiters will be a good addition and will fit right in and may I say a poor mans James Harden in the Thunders system. This trade could possibly be a make up for the bust trade of Harden.
For the Knicks this is just a bad trade all around. You lose cap space, great, but you lose way more then you can get back. You trade a decent 6th man in J.R. Smith, and I say decent because of the system that Smith is in in New York. Shumpert who was apart of a lot of the success in the Melo era and it doesn't make any sense why you would trade that kind of talent away. On top of the fact they didn't get anything back. I just don't get it.

Don't forget to follow on your way out
