Seattle jumps into the trade pool

Yesterday it was all about the Yankees making deals. Today the trade news has been focused around the Red Sox outfielder Jakie Bradley Jr. and were he was going to go. The Mariners, Cubs, and Royals among the teams interested. San Diego makes another deal after picking up Jose Pierla, they get two Class A prospects for Joaquin Benoit. Seattle gets a big arm that they can use to lock up the back end of that pen. The Mariners have taken a page out of Kansas City's book creating a stacked back end of the bullpen. The Padres get a big arm that is about four years away in right hander Enyel De Los Santos, who went 6-0 with a 3.47 ERA in 13 games. San Diego also picked up Nelson Ward a infielder that looks like a utility player but way in the future. Ward batted .282 with 7 home runs and 39 RBI's while stealing 8/11 bases. He looks like he will be playing in Double A San Antonio next season.
From the Mariners point of view that get another veteran that can go into that clubhouse and make a difference. Benoit has playoff experience and was highly sought after last off-season. Benoit had a 2.34 in 67 games and 63/23 strike outs to walks. Both of these teams are going in two different directions with Seattle's young talent is ready and prime to make a difference, and the Padres after a tank of a season last year is looking to rebuild as they spent most of their resources last off-season going for it all.
