NY weekend in 500

Welcome to a new series of post that I will be doing called NY Weekend in 500. I will break down the busy weekend of New York sports in only 500 words. Here is the first installment:
Busy weekend of sports in Gotham City. Melo yesterday lead the struggling Knicks over Anthony Davis’ Pelicans. Melo dropped twenty nine with thirteen boards. Davis had thirty six and eleven. In football the Jets lost a golden opportunity to beat Rex Ryan and the Bills, if they only took their points and kicked them deep with just over two to play. Surprisingly the Jets were still in it after giving the ball away three times in the game. Some missed tackles and poor coverage by Derelle Revis led to them losing, but you could argue if Watkins doesn’t get the first on that play the Jets would have had a chance with two great receivers and an up and coming running back if they needed to use Ivory at all on a possible last drive. But, let’s take a minute to dissect what might have happened if the Jets kicked a field goal on the eleven yard line. You are now down two points with about 2:23 left to play. You still have all three time outs AND the two minute warning. Your defense who just stopped them on the previous drive would have great confidence and a huge deal of momentum with the crowd advantage. IF you stop them, you would have roughly 1:30 with a timeout or two with the ball on maybe your own thirty five. Then Fitz would have to get about thirty yards against a defense that would tired and would be venerable to mistakes. In the four o’clock game the Giants yet again lose a led in the fourth falling to the Pats 27-26. The Odell Beckham Jr. “no catch” and the interception that didn’t count are the two reasons that are being magnified the most. However on Amendola’s punt return that placed New England in the red zone should have been called back due to an illegal block to Mark Hertzlick that injured him. The block was below the waist which is an illegal play. But, let’s talk about the OBJ play that was called an incomplete pass. Beckham had control until the third step when Butler knocked the ball loose. Beckham had two feet in bounds and controlled the ball all the way to the ground and was attempting to twist the ball away from butler as butler’s hand was coming up to swipe the ball away. If you slow it down you will see as he is taking that third step butler simultaneously knocks the ball out. The call should have been a touchdown and fumble out of bounds. Keep in mind that the Patriots would still have a time out and the length of the field down by six with just under two minutes left in the ball game. Now, it is Tom Brady but without Edelman on the last drive of the game it would have been difficult as it was on previous drives for Brady to deliver the ball, and would have called for someone to step up.
