What Happened in the Bronx!?

While most of you were rained in on Saturday and watching football yesterday, the Bronx Bombers pretty much decided their fate for the division. On Saturday, the Yanks and Blue Jays fought long and hard for 11 innings in the first game hitting 7 home runs and scoring at while against each other. It had the atmosphere of a playoff game and almost as much as a September series with the Red Sox. But the Jays broke throw for 5 in the top the 11th against Brian Mitchell. Then the Jays were not done as they break out 6 in the second inning. The Jays also extended their AL East lead to 4 and a half games with the sweep of the double header. The 2 run bomb from Edwin Encarnacion was to me the deciding factor in the game. The Yankees were forced to use their bullpen after that to save the game in hope of winning and shaving the lead done to a game and a half. The inning with Mitchell is going to happen because he is a  young inexperienced pitcher who is coming back from a scary moment were he took a come backer to the face.

But, the second game with Nova is just unexceptionable this late in the season from a veteran pitcher. His command was all over the place, but in that situation you have to make pitches to save the rest of the game and he just completely missed his spots. The offense was there but the pitching that has been there all season, was not and that is what you need to cool off an explosive offense like Toronto. Like Tanaka who on Sunday pitched an absolute gem, going 7 scoreless with 7 K's. Dustin Ackley also had a good game with a 3 run homer and added another base hit to cap off the afternoon. So the Yanks are 3 up in the Wild Card standing and are looking at either a game against Cole Hamels or the Minnesota Twins. Unless the Blue Jays absolutely have a historic collapse in the last 3 weeks of the season.
