Oswald Peraza deserves a chance
The New York Yankees right now are not a good baseball team. Part of why they are not a winning club is because of their bench. You can’t have starters on a Major League bench, but you should have guys who are at least league average. The J.D. Davis experiment with the Yankees was a risk worth taking but it is time for Brian Cashman to admit that the experiment has not worked. The idea behind bringing Davis onboard was to fill the first base hole left behind by Anthony Rizzo breaking his right arm, in particular against left-handed pitching. Davis in his career has a slash line of .254/.339/.771 with a .324 average when he put the ball in play. This season the 31-year-old veteran has a slash line of .209/.292/.664 with a .250 average when he puts the ball in play. The two numbers that are extremely alarming are the dip in almost 50 points of batting average and almost 100 in OPS. Simply put, J.D.
