Bombers Postseason hopes are still ALIVE

Glayber Torres came up with his biggest hit of the year last night against Texas. In a game the Yankees had to have, a sweep they had to complete to keep their postseason hopes alive.

Gary Sanchez also hit one of his biggest home runs a few batters later after Torres and threw out the possible winning run in the top of the 8th inning. Aaron Boone after the game pleased with his catchers performance “that was big for him to come in and contribute in a big way on both sides of the ball and being ready for it.”

The bullpen continued to pitch well locking the door on a terrible Texas Rangers ball club. Aaron Boone said post game “we did some really good things on both sides of the ball the second half of the game and put some really good winning at-bats together at the end.” Corey Kluber was shaky again for the Yankees only lasting four and a third innings responsible for three earned runs on eight hits, and only striking out four. Wandy Peralta, Clay Holmes, Chad Green, and Alrodis Chapman all stepped up big as the Bomber bullpen looked like it did at the beginning of the year—saving them again from utter disaster. At 86-67, this team has looked a lot better and a lot worse than their 19 game above .500 record shows.

Looking ahead to this weekend against Boston, the Yankee rotation is lined up perfectly against the Marathon Yellow Boston Red Sox team. Gerrit Cole is slated for Friday night’s game and all Yankee fans should expect an outing that looks a lot like his outing in Houston before the All-Star break that saved the Yanks then. The Yankees most reliable starter all year Nestor Cortez goes on Saturday, and Jordan Montgomery finishes the series off on Sunday night. This series in Boston is the Yankees most important series of the year and will have the feeling on October baseball all weekend long. If the Yankees sweep the Red Sox, they would own the first Wild Card spot going north of the border to play the hot Blue Jays. If they win the series two out of three they would be one game back of the Boston for that first playoff spot. However, it is no time look ahead, the Yankees if they want to play in the postseason, control their own destiny and it starts with sweeping Boston. If you’ve lost belief, regain it quick, Yankee baseball is still alive and well!
