NY 500 XXVI
NY 500 #26
After a week off and yet
another battle of the bureau’s in basketball. The Nets won again, which is
getting their win total 13. The Nets
will still have the worst record in the NBA and still give the first overall
pick in this year’s draft. The Knicks are still in the same rut that they were
in the before the trade deadline. Knick fans are still upset, as they should be
with the product that is being displayed on the floor.
The hockey scene in New
York is getting interesting. The Islanders are in the heat of a playoff battle
between them and the Maple Leafs. Toronto is currently in the 8th East
by only one point. The Islanders have 78 points with 11 games left. The Rangers
are in the 4th spot in the East with 93 points. The Blue Shirts are
6 points behind Pittsburgh and are most likely going to sit in the 4th
spot in the Eastern Conference come playoff time. I am excited for playoff
hockey with the Rangers with the team that the Rangers have this season. The Islanders
control their own destiny if they want to get into the playoffs. I wish them
luck and hope they do well.
Spring Training is
winding down and Opening Day is only 20 days away and everyday baseball that
means something will be here before we know it. The Bronx Bombers are red hot
this spring. Everything seems to be clicking this spring. From the starting
pitching, hitting for both power and average, to the bullpen. Personally I have
my concerns about this hot start and I am cautious if this hot start will hurt
the Yankees when the season starts. The Mets have had a decent spring, with
some injuries and hope to have a great 2017 season. I think the Mets will be
fine and I also think their fans are just fed up with Spring Training and what
to be going to Citi Field for meaningful baseball. It should be fun.
In the NFL, free agency
is seemingly over, and it is all about the draft. The Giants have one glaring hole
at running back, while the Jets have many more than that. It is extremely
important for the Jets to have an important draft this April, for the moral of
the team moving forward in this rebuilding process as well as the fan base. It should
be fun and nerve racking to watch. Hold onto your hard hats and hope for the
best! As March winds down, as New York sport fans, the best time of the year
with playoff basketball, hockey, and regular season is coming—and I cannot
wait! It will be here before you know it.
