The back end

The back end
The best way to dominate in Major League Baseball today is to have a great back end of the bullpen. If you have a great set-up man and closer, you automatically have an advantage over your opponent day in and day out. The Kansas City Royals are advocates of this model that they have created. Kansas City are the defending champions and are the founders of the dominate bullpen model. The New York Yankees now are completely bought into this model and are being criticized for way they are using their weapons at the end of games. Joe Girardi has a heavy task on his hands and especially being in the media capitol of the world. Personally I do not like Joe Girardi and the way he manages the game. Girardi banks on the home run ball more than any other manger in today’s game. With that said he has done very well with the cards that he has been dealt, and I will give him a pass for 2009 because anyone could have mange that team. Girardi is possibly on the hot seat in New York and the back end of the bullpen may be his demise. Girardi needs to not burn out the fire arms, and get the Yankees back in the race in the American League East.
Chapman, Miller, and Betances are possibly the best trio in the bullpen in the history of the game. This trio is most likely not going to be back next year so with that Girardi’s job might be on the hook. Brain Cashman might also be on the hook in the next coming years. Yes what Cashman has done in his tenure as the GM of the Yankees is incredible and possibly unparalleled to any other. These next three years for Cashman will be his biggest test as the GM and keeping talent on the roster while trying to dump big old contracts will be interesting. Miller and Betances will continue to help the Bronx Bombers for the next five years. Chapman on the other hand is a free agent after this season will be a hard pill to swallow. As good as he is the Yankees cannot re-sign Aroldis Chapman because of the direction the franchise has to take. If the Yankees want a chance at Bryce Harper in 2017 and others in 2018 they cannot give Chapman more than twenty million dollars this offseason.
So as good as the back end is it might be the destruction of the New York Yankees
