2017 Week 14 Thursday Game Ball and Picks

The NFL just can’t get out of their own way this year. After a week filled with concussion talks, changing the game, and maximum suspensions, the last thing the NFL needs is one of their stars getting a concussion.

And, what happened… Alvin Kamara got a concussion early in the first half and didn’t return. Kamara is the odds-on favorite to win the Offensive Rookie of the Year after the injury to Houston’s Deshaun Watson. Kamara is one of the brightest young stars that looks like the next star running back. The time table for his return is un-known. The hit itself was not a dirty hit (like Schuster’s hit on Burfict) and it didn’t look like Kamara was hurt that bad. Kamara did immediately run off the field knowing something was wrong, but it didn’t look that bad. But, that is the thing with concussions, every person is different and concussions are just a scary thing.

The game itself was an exciting divisional game that ended with a great ending. The refs did seem to lean in favor of the Falcons, but the Saints didn’t make plays in key situations. Matt Ryan himself seemed to play for New Orleans due to the fact that he threw three interceptions and two out of the three were just bone head decisions that never should have happened. And, nothing is more evident than Drew Brees throwing an interception in the endzone as the Saints were driving to try to win the game.

The play was an incredible play by Atlanta Falcons Line Backer Deion Jones. Jones made a leaping interception on a pass to Josh Hill in the back of the endzone. Not only that, but Jones had a team high seven total tackles as well as that game clinching interception.

Moving forward, the Falcons are still in the playoff race, but the Saints should not be worried. The reason being a team is allowed to have two hiccups during a season and still win a division title. This game in Atlanta and the game against the Rams are the two games that the Saints hiccups and it is also evident that the Saints have no game plan without Kamara (or limited). The Saints are banged up like a lot of teams in the league, but they will get healthy and make a run toward a Super Bowl.

Looking to this week of football, the Jets are a favorite in Denver, the best game of the week is the afternoon game on Fox between the Seahawks and Jaguars. The Sunday Night game that is being flexed into the slot is the Steelers-Ravens game which could be a cause for concern because of what happened and there will be a conversation about everything that happened on Monday Night in Cincinnati. Should be some entertaining football and hopefully there isn’t more controversy on Monday morning.
