Giants Dominate Game 1
Madison Bumgarner yet again dominated postseason batters. I saw a very interesting stat last night while watching the last outs of last nights blow out win in Game 1 of the World Series. Madison Bumgarner in 22 innings pitched in the World Series has given up only 1 run. To me that is amazing, I mean this is better then some of the postseason greats like Mariano Rivera or Dennis Eckersley, Andy Pettitte, Curt Schilling, and others. Hunter Pence got the game off with a bang with a 2 run homer in the top of the 1st thanks to a meatball of a fastball that he deposited it into deep right center field. Pence who is probably the most unfundamental baseball player who ever lived. Pence went 2/3 with 2 hits and 2 RBI's. Gregor Blanco scored twice with 2 walks. On the Royals side of the field not much happened as they only totaled 3 hits off the San Fran South Paw. Salvador Perez who homered to left was the only run suffered in a masterful performance by Bumgarner. Big Game James Shields on the other hand gave up 5 runs on 7 hits in only 3 innings. Big Game James hasn't been living up to his nickname, he was given up 15 earned runs in 19 inninhs this postseason. His ERA is just north of 5 and he is definitely not a factor in the success of KC this postseason until last night. The Royals are looking to bounce back sending Yordano Vantura to the hill tonight at 8:07 in the Big K. Jake Peavy for the Giants is looking for his best outing and maybe a follow up performance.
