The longest game in MLB playoff history

The Washington Nationals and San Francisco Giants played an 18 inning 6 hour and 23 minute marathon Saturday night. The game started started at 5:30 EST and ended just after midnight. The game started off as a pitchers duel between Tim Hudson and Jordan Zimmerman. Hudson who went 7 and a third innings with 8 K's 7 hits and only 1 run. Zimmerman who did him better going 8 and two thirds innings. At one point in the game retiring 20 straight Giants gave up a key walk to Joe Panik in the 9th and a Buster Posey single was taken out. Pablo Sandaval hit a ringing double which scored Panik to tie the game and almost scored Posey who was thrown out at the plate. 9 innings a 14 inning stretch and a second Presidents race later Brendan Belt hit a home run into the Nationals bullpen to give the Giants a 2-1 led and later the win.
