NY 500 XXV

NY 500 #25
Adjusting to a sports landscape of just basketball, hockey, and an occasional Spring Training baseball game gets easier with time. The Knicks have found themselves in a rout. They have lost 3 out of their last 4 and haven’t made up any ground in the Eastern Conference playoff race. It seems like Phil Jackson was wrong again—keeping this group of players intact and not selling at the deadline. Melo is playing decent basketball, but with all these small storylines surrounding the team, they just can’t get out of their own way. In Brooklyn, the Nets have finally put up double digits in the win column now sitting at 10-51. This is also your daily reminder that Billy King has doomed the Nets franchise and will most likely hand the number one overall pick to a playoff (2nd seed) bound Boston Celtics. The Celtics will have a long run at the title thanks to the idiocy of King.

The Jets have made improvements to make one of the oldest teams in 2016, one of the youngest in 2017. The Jets over the weekend make it known that they will be open to trade the 6th overall pick in the first round for more picks in the draft. Mike Maccagnan seems like he is all-in to rebuilding through the draft and making minimal signings in free agency. The Giants on the other hand have remained quite through all the big news regarding everything that has surrounded the available running backs. The Giants have allowed the Jets to grab the headlines and runaway with them.

The Yankees and Mets are getting ready for the marathon of the MLB season, and for a baseball fan it is extremely exciting. I am just happy that baseball is back on TV, and it is only a matter of time until baseball is on every single day.

For the Rangers and Islanders, the teams just stalling out. The teams aren’t necessarily struggling, but neither of the teams are making any ground up in the standings. For the Rangers, they need to get all these kinks out to try and make a run at Lord Stanley’s Cup. For the Islanders, they need to catch fire and ride that momentum into the playoffs. The Rangers sit in 4th four points behind Pittsburgh with 84 points, and the Islanders are barely hanging onto a playoff spot with 71 points. But, a hot Toronto team is on their heels only one point behind. The transition between Winter and Spring should get better with playoff races and with that the level of play should also increase, after all it is New York sports. Just sit back and watch.
