Recruiting Wire Vol. 9

Recruiting Wire- Something a little different
It is almost bracket time! With Championship Week among us, it is only a matter of time until we all get to waste money and fill out an absurd amount of NCAA brackets. You can almost hear the Madness as it approaches increasingly with each day. With this being Championship Week, this will be the last Top 25 Rankings of the year and the last time I produce my Top 10. This will also be the last Recruiting Wire of the season (I will have an updated schedule coming out next week). So, let’s jump right into it—this week’s Top 25 looks like this:
1.      Kansas
2.      Villanova
3.      UCLA
4.      Gonzaga
5.      Oregon
6.      North Carolina
7.      Arizona
8.      Kentucky
9.      Baylor
10.  Louisville
11.  West Virginia
12.  SMU
13.  Purdue
14.  Duke
15.  Cincinnati
16.  Florida
17.  Florida State
18.  Butler
19.  St. Mary’s
20.  Wichita State
21.  Virginia
22.  Norte Dame
23.  Iowa State
24.  Wisconsin
25.  Maryland
Nothing changing up that much, with the focus being on Conference Championship and the Tournament. However, my Top 10 looks a little different this week:
1.      Kansas
2.      Villanova
3.      Gonzaga
4.      Arizona
5.      Louisville
6.      Oregon
7.      North Carolina
8.      Kentucky
9.      West Virginia
10.  Virginia
Virginia has impressed me a ton this past week and is gaining momentum at the right time in the season. The defense of West Virginia and Louisville are still among the best in the country to me, and the talent of both North Carolina and Kentucky is too much to leave off the board at this point in the season. I think both Carolina and Kentucky will win their Conference Championship and sit as 2 seeds going into the tournament. With that being said, I would like to give out my opinion on who I think should get the number one seeds in the tournament.
1.      Gonzaga- With only one loss on the resumè and the clear favorite to win their Conference Championship, I think Gonzaga will grab the Number One seed out West.
2.      Kansas- Being the Number One seed for the final three weeks of the season, having an electric starting five (that includes my pick for the Wooden Award {Frank Mason III}, and a 13th Consecutive Big Tweleve title the Jayhawks deserve a One seed in the Midwest.
3.      Louisville- While looking at who the best teams are in the country, the committee also looks at geographical regions, and with Gonzaga in my opinion getting the One seed out West, that would put Louisville as the Number One in the South—skipping over Arizona. The consistent play from the Cardinals, and what should be a second-place finish in the ACC to only North Carolina I think Louisville sneaks in as the last Number One seed. Now, the reason why it isn’t North Carolina is because of how Louisville has played as of late, not having as bad of losses as North Carolina has.
4.      Villanova- Just like what I said before with Louisville, the committee looks at region as well as level of play, and for Nova to be the defending champs and play at a high level all year I think they will get that Number One seed in the West.
Well, now that you have my input, watch Conference Championship Week closely, good luck with your brackets, and make sure you look out for the Recruiting Wire of 2017.
