2017 Week 4 Sunday Game Ball

What a weird week of football. Buffalo went into Atlanta and beat the defending NFC Champion Falcons, the Saints blanked the Dolphins in London, Andy Dalton bounced back in Cleveland, the Rams went into Jerry’s World and beat the Cowboys, and the Browns, Chargers, and Giants remain winless. This is just a weird place for football. Take away the President’s comments and you are in a world where my Super Bowl pick New York Giants are 0-4, the Rams and Bills are 3-1, and the Patriots and Jets have the same record at 2-2. What is going on in football? I really don’t know who is good and who isn’t… so everyone is terrible.

Getting to the game ball, it came down to two performances. I ended up not going with Houston’s rookie quarterback Deshaun Watson who went 25/34 for 283 yards for 4 touchdowns, and ran for 24 yards and a touchdown. But, to me that wasn’t as good as the day that Carolina Panther quarterback Cam Newton had in Foxborough. Newton lead a 10-play, 36-yard game-winning drive that gave the Patriots their second loss at home in 2017. Newton went 22/29 for 316 yards, 3 touchdowns, an interception, and ran the ball 8 times for 44 yards and a rushing touchdown. That rushing touchdown was historic because it made Cam Newton the first quarterback in NFL history to run for 50 career touchdowns. In a season where everyone looks awful, take your pick at who is good next week, and watch them get their doors blown off. What a year of football.
