2017 Week 5 Sunday Game Ball

2017 is just a weird year for football. On this upcoming Sunday, the Jets and Patriots are playing for first place in Metlife Stadium. The Jaguars made Ben Roethlisberger look like an Area Football quarterback while showing that they have completely lost trust in Blake Bortles. The New England Patriots look like a mediocre team that just happen to have Tom Brady and Bill Belichick. Super Bowl contenders in the NFC; the Seattle Seahawks and New York Football Giants have been shaky at best. The Seahawks barely got passed Jared Goff in Los Angeles, and the Giants are 0-5 and have one receiver healthy on roster [Roger Lewis Jr.]. While the best team in football is wait for it… the Kansas City Chiefs.

Honestly, this football season doesn’t make any sense! From Goff and Wentz looking like the future headliners of the next quarterback class at times, to the President’s comments, to the ludicrous responses following those comments coming out this week, and the massive uptick in injuries which is a concern growing each and every week. The game of football lost two of the most talented players in their league, Odell Beckham Jr. and J.J. Watt for the season with devastating leg injuries, and this is the second week in a row where a team lost multiple starters in one game. This is a year that football people will just throw away, hoping that years’ like this don’t continue. That’s because there only seems like there is one good football team in the entire NFL and that’s the Kansas City Chiefs. The Rams, Jaguars, Jets or Bills, and Bengals can right now be conceivable playoffs teams. That is absolutely absurd and unbelievable in some people’s mind. So, let’s just enjoy the craziness of 31 bad teams and the Kansas City Chiefs and throw the season in the waste basket after the Super Bowl.

For the Sunday game ball for Week 5 it has to go to Green Bay Packers Quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers in Dallas on Sunday Afternoon went 19/29 for 221 yards and 3 touchdowns while getting 32 yards on the ground. None of that is of much importance with what Rodgers did in the final seconds of the Packers-Cowboys game. Rodgers was my MVP pick at the beginning of the season. The Packers are leading the NFC North by a game following the Panthers 27-24 win over the Lions. The Packers are one of the teams in the NFL right now that have a leg up on everyone else because they have Aaron Rodgers. It’s a comparable situation to what’s going on in New England, but to a lesser degree. Rodgers throughout his career has carried the Packers and nothing will change this season. Let’s see how far his right arm can take Green Bay.
