Day 288

Fresh Start_288: The rebuild has truly begun
At this point I cannot defend Woody Johnson and the Jets any longer. The glimmer of hope that I had for the 2017-18 season is all but gone. That hope was winning a game or two, but with the recent news of the Jets completely tanking and trading or releasing wide receiver Eric Decker by the end of the week.

The Jets won’t have troubling trading Decker, it’s just a matter of what they get back in return. Decker at this stage of his career, Decker who caught 80 passes for 1,027 yards in his last full season with the Jets. A guy with his talent would call for at least a second and a third round pick, if not two second rounders.

The Jets are getting younger and cheaper as they move into their rebuilding faze, and from a fan perspective I get it but it isn’t reassuring. Rebuilds always sound appetizing at first, but when the plan is executed by the organization, the fans go into an uproar. Just pile on that this is the New York Jets and their history of drafts/free agency signings. The new management of Todd Bowles and Mike Maccagnan the franchise almost made the playoffs with a 10-6 two seasons ago with a good off season. This past draft should be the draft that starts the rebuild, and possibly has a few Super Bowl winners on it, if this rebuild works correctly.

Shopping Decker like this just proves yet again that both Maccagnan and Bowles have job security because if they don’t; Woody Johnson should be forced to sell the team.

I personally don’t like the move because Decker is one of the two proven NFL receivers {Enuwa being the other}, and with you subtracting Decker from the team, what chance does any quarterback have of making an impact next season?

Regardless of who you choose to be the starter, what chance will they have with the defense putting majority of the focus of Enunwa with double and possible triple teams? But, this is a true rebuild, and at this point, it better work.
