Day 315

Fresh Start_315: Trouble in the Bronx
These past two weeks or so has been doomsday for Yankee fans. After one of the best starts in franchises’ history and an elated fan base, the injury bug has just deflated all the noise around the team. The bombers are 3 games back in the division and are starting to look like a team in headlights.

With all of these injuries—the Yankees farm system has been stretched to almost the breaking point. Dustin Fowler, Tyler Wade, Bryan Mitchell, Miguel Andujar, and Clint Frazier have all been called up in the past week and a half, with Chris Carter being recalled after his designation.

The Yankees have called up 5 of their top 15 prospects in just over a week because of all of these injuries. Key guys like Starlin Castro, Matt Holiday, Aaron Hicks, C.C. Sabathia, and Greg Bird are all hurt. With that; Tyler Austin and Dustin Fowler getting hurt as the plugs for the stars that are already hurt.

These injuries have sped up the Yanks farm system and yes injuries are a crazy thing especially with Austin and Fowler getting hurt is something you never plan for. I don’t think the Yankees are happy that they have had to put Major League Service Time on guys like Fowler, Andujar, and Frazier—but it happened. It’s a reality that Brian Cashman and the Steinbrenner’s have, it also puts pressure on the guys getting called up as well as the guys who are trying to get healthy to help this team again.

There really is no quick fix, you just have to hope that the injuries to Castro, Holiday, Hicks, and Sabathia get fully healthy faster than normal. It also doesn’t help that the Red Sox are hitting their stride, but it’s only 3 games, and it is the start of July so you still have time to get back into this.

Hopefully the Yankees can get healthy over the All-Star Break and can battle back into the division lead sometime soon.
