Fresh Start_335: Thank you Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre
As I was watching the first two parts of the newest HBO documentary “The Defiant Ones” I realized something about music that I haven’t before. Watching the rise of Jimmy Iovine and his career that has landed him being a major part in a $3 Billion deal between Beats headphones and Apple, is something that is truly remarkable.

We all love music. Music is something that gets us to work, calms us down, and makes us motivated. Music is a beautiful tool that nothing else in this world can compare to. Music makes a connection with us through the chorus, the hook, melody that gives a certain memory. Close your eyes and picture the first time you heard your favorite song.

The type of work ethic that you see on Instagram from up and coming artists or in documentaries it was built from people like Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine. The craziness that is the music business and the evaluation of the business is thanks to Apple with Iovine and Dr. Dre having a minute part of that.

The streaming services was the industries answer for Apple changing the business with the introduction of iTunes. To have the ability to buy your favorite song off an album was game changing, and streaming is no different. You still get your favorite song for just a small fee per month. SoundCloud and Spotify are two different sites that you don’t have pay for music if you don’t want to and that itself is insane.

I’m thankful that music is where it is now because of the ground work that Interscope Records produced. For Jay-Z, Kanye West, Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters, and Drake along with the new guys like Chance the Rapper and Logic to be who they are, the 1990’s needed to happen to music. And now, for Iovine and Dre to be a part of Apple I am excited to see what’s next for the music industry.

The Question going into the Trade Deadline for the New York Yankees

  There is a crossroads in the Bronx in between River and 161 st Street right now. As New York Yankee Manager Aaron Boone likes to put it “[the season] is right in front of them.” The second half of the season is for the taking. As we move into the dog days of summer the Bronx Bombers are nine games out of the division and now a game and a half out of the AL Wild Card race following a disappointing first series in Colorado. With that, the historic starting Tampa Bay Rays have cooled off, going 3-7 before the break while showing signs of being mortal. The Answer for the Mets

  As Yogi Berra would say “it’s déjà vu all over again.” Buck Showalter is an all too familiar place. The 67-year-old manager has taken a time machine back to 2012. No, he is not managing in Baltimore anymore, however that’s what it feels like the end of Showalter’s Oriole tenure in Queens right now. The Mets simply can’t get out of their own way. With Pete Alonso likely headed to the Injured List, the Mets scored 10 runs last night in Atlanta. 10 runs on the heels of back-to-back gut-wrenching losses at the hands of the team that has foiled the Mets for the better part of almost three decades, the Atlanta Braves. 10 runs with their hired ace, Justin Verlander, who was looking to put together good starts consecutively for the first time all season. The Mets looked like they were about to exercise some demons in Atlanta last night, and then, the other shoe dropped. It wasn’t good enough. Again.
