Day 333

Fresh Start_333: Starting to sound like a broken record
Can we officially start making Lebron James Laker jerseys now? News coming out of Cleveland today reported by a variety of sources close to the Cavs say that Kyrie Irving wants to be traded. The franchise point guard, former number one overall selection, and one of (if not THE) reason(s) that the Cavilers have a championship in Cleveland wants out.

Irving has reportedly wanted to be traded to either San Antonio, the Knicks, Miami, or Minnesota. San Antonio has been quite (nothing new), and the Heat and T’Wolves haven’t commented. But, the Knicks have reportedly are willing to trade Carmelo Anthony and future picks for Irving. Which would be interesting, especially if the Cavs get Derrick Rose. Rose would be the point guard with J.R. Smith, Carmelo, Kevin Love, and James filling out the rest of the lineup at times. That roster with Tristen Thompson is not going to beat the Warriors this upcoming, and the lineup with Kyrie, Porzingis, and Tim Hardaway might be a tough second round opponent for an Eastern Conference team. However, the trade that would bring Carmelo to Cleveland and ship Irving to the Big Apple might be the only option at this point that Cavs owner Dan Gilbert has of keeping Lebron.

Let’s face it—Gilbert is the driving force behind of most of the controversy that is going on in Cleveland right now, and if he allows whoever is in charge of basketball operations to trade away Kyrie Irving, you can kiss Lebron goodbye for the second time. In just one offseason have you not only missed out on a chance to get Jimmy Butler, fired the GM that Lebron loves, but are also driving your second player out of town because of whatever reason Irving has—how does Lebron stay at this point?

IF Irving does indeed get traded away from Cleveland, Lebron may or may not have Carmelo Anthony (assuming not), the Cavilers would have Kevin Love, J.R. Smith, Tristen Thompson, and presumably Derrick Rose as the main supporting cast for Lebron. Oh, and let’s not forget Channing Frye and Kyle Korver coming off the bench. That roster will not be as appealing to the aging first ballot Hall of Famer as a lineup that could have Lonzo Ball, Brook Lopez, and Paul George in it. The Lakers would be a better situation to beat the Warriors than the Cavilers without Irving. Even with Anthony in Cleveland, you have a log jam in the front court with a less than average point guard that is a drop of sweat away from missing significant time. Not to mention that that might not be enough to keep Lebron anyway.

Everything seems to be lining up for a press conference with Lebron holding up a “23 James” jersey at the Staples Center. Either way, with or without the Kyrie Irving trade, we will be having another “decision” television special about this time next summer for Lebron James. And, if I was to beat my life I would say he’s going to L.A. and Cleveland Caviler fans will be at Dan Gilbert’s home with flaming torches and pitchforks.
