Day 345

Fresh Start_345: Hey Maccagnan; take the bounty and run
I may be outed by Jets Nation for this; but trade Sheldon Richardson. If you think about the direction that the Jets have gone this offseason heading into the 2017 Preseason, it’s a rebuild (don’t listen to the players). Looking at the production that Richardson put out last season with 62 total tackles, 1.5 sacks, and only one forced fumble in 15 games last season—the Jets should feel blessed that there are offers for Richardson.

The package that Richardson should grant in return is a 1st round pick in the early to mid-first round if not two second round picks. It will better the team as a whole with the cuts that they have made and the way they drafted in this past Aprils’ draft. It’ll be better for the Jets and their fans in the long term, believe me. Richardson will not benefit the Jets because you can lose win him and you can lose without him. It is better to get a return from Seattle or Washington.

I think that the Jets should just clean house and trade Muhammed Wilkerson as well. The return both of them can grant is just impossible to turn down in separate deals. Yes, the team will suffer this season and maybe only win one game, but having possibly three first rounds picks or at worst a lottery pick in the first and five second round picks is something that is a no brainer to me.

Before the value of both of the players goes down with the wear and tear that an NFL season can put on a player—not to mention the fact that both will be a year older if the Jets decide to wait that long to pull the trigger, offers like this don’t always stay on the table. If I’m Mike Maccagnan and the Jets I’d take the money and run like the wind with the bounty of cash that you just stole from the league. A good defensive line won’t do you any good with no linebackers and a rebuilt secondary. Just like Carmelo Anthony with the Knicks; if you can lose with him, you can lose without him so trade ‘em.
