Day 168

Fresh Start_168: Brady is the Greatest
Tom Brady is the best quarterback ever. I said it before and now it’s official, Tom Brady is the greatest quarterback to ever play the game of football. Bill Belichick is the greatest coach ever, and the Patriots are one of the best franchises in sports. Brady had 466 yards, 2 touchdowns, and the Super Bowl MVP. Brady now has 5 rings and 4 Super Bowl MVP’s (which are both NFL records).

The game wasn’t played how I expected, and there were moments in the game that will be remembered just like in every Super Bowl, but wow. The Julian Edelman catch, which is one of the greatest catches I have ever seen—one of the best catches in Super Bowl history. James White with the game clinching touchdown running the ball in from 2-yards out. The defense held off the best offense in the league, and held Julio Jones under 100 yards (4 catches for 87 yards). An unsung hero New England Patriots defensive end Trey Flowers, who had 2.5 sacks—the key sack pushing Matt Ryan and the Falcons to the brink of field goal range before the offensive holding penalty push Atlanta into a punting situation.

Hats off to the great ones on the New England sideline, but Atlanta will have their chance. The Falcons had a 25-point lead at one point in the game, and had a crushing fall to lose the game in overtime. With a pick six and the half time show, Matt Ryan and the Falcons looked out of sink in the second half, and were just not the same team on both sides of the ball. The Patriots had a huge lead in time of possession, almost doubled Atlanta’s ToP. The experience of the New England sideline was ultimately what won the Patriots the game. The Pats never blinked and looked into the face of the challenge and excepted it.

Even with Brady looking his age in the 1st half, he trusted his coach, the team that was put around him, and himself to put themselves in a position to win the game. From the first play of the second half on, the Patriots just outplayed the Falcons.

Now the Falcons played a good 30 minutes of football and the youth and inexperience of the Falcons was too much, showing on a couple drives late in the game. The Falcons are young, they have a good defense that can fly all over the field, if not great quarterback, and one of the best head coaches in the NFL. Sit back and let this all sink in, and enjoy your food coma—also don’t forget to call in sick tomorrow.
