Day 181
Fresh Start_181: Binge Weekend
Some people say that June
or October is the best time of year because all the 4-Major sports markets are
in the middle of seasons, and you can turn on the TV and watch whatever you
want. Well, the middle of February has to be the worst time for sports fans. The
NHL is rounding up their regular season and not many games are on, Spring
Training has begun in Florida and Arizona, but they haven’t started playing any
games, the NFL is in their weird grey period between the Super Bowl and free
agency, and the NBA is at the All-Star break.
So, if you turn on your
TV in the middle of the day on a Saturday or Sunday at this time of year, you
may catch an uninteresting college basketball game that is being played
somewhere in the middle of the country. The Oscars aren’t even on this weekend—we
have to wait a week for that. So, in the dawn of this boring weekend, the
weekend of the NBA All-Star break, I would like to officially call this weekend
“the weekend of binge watching.” Catch up on whatever shows you missed, movies
you meant to watch, or anything that has peaked your interest in the slightest
this weekend.
The NBA All-Star weekend
is almost as boring as the Pro Bowl is for the NFL at this point. The Slam Dunk
contest was awful, the 3-point shootout was decent, and a stretch power forward
won the Skills Contest {Porzingis}. Something needs to change with the NBA
because I’m at the point where I am just going to skip over this weekend like I
do with the Pro Bowl. I’ve already touched on how I think the All-Star games
have a problem and need fixing, I just didn’t think it was this bad…
*This is also the 450 article I have
posted to this blog, I am extremely excited with the direction it has been
going in 2017, and I cannot wait for the future. Also, this blog reach over
13,000 page views during this past week, so thank you for that!*
