Day 177

Fresh Start_177: Love loss
If there was such a thing as tough road back to the Finals for the defending champs, this is it. With the Kevin Love knee injury that will need surgery, the Cavilers have a whole in their roster. This pills on top of the J.R. Smith injury, which Smith will be out until at the best Mid-March. With that, the last thing the Cavs need to do is play Lebron unbelievable amount of minutes. Ty Lue played James 40 minutes last night in Minnesota, which is the opposite thing of what he should be doing. The Cavilers don’t need the number one seed in the playoffs because of the team that they have.

Although with that said, it wouldn’t be crazy to make two trades. The first would be a package that would include a 1st and 2nd round pick, and Kay Felder for Brandon Knight as the back-up point guard. Knight would be a great option. The second would be Iman Shumpert and a future 1st round pick for Dion Waiters. Waiters would be a good player to play the small forward position in a small ball lineup.

When Love and Smith comeback right before the playoffs, the Cavs will have a nice combo of Korver, Knight, and Waiters off the bench for at worst the 3rd seed in the East. The ultimate reason that the playoff positioning will not matter is because of the record of Golden State. The Warriors have the best record in the league, and will not loss that mark anytime soon. So giving up a couple of games on the road in the Eastern Conference Finals, will benefit the team as whole, by resting Lebron and giving him needed days off.

Cleveland is not in a rout by any means, so stop panicking if you are a Cavs fan. With the talent that they will have at the beginning of the playoffs, it is a blessing from the basketball gods.
