Day 105

Fresh Start_105: Paging Dr. Kelly
Everything is aligning for the Chip Kelly and the Oregon Ducks to get back together and be a happy married couple again. The Oregon Ducks fired their head man Mark Helfrich after a very disappointing 2016. Both parties look to be on track to come together again in Eugene next season. Kelly lead the Ducks to 2 National Championship games under the old system and lost both. Kelly was the one that orchestrated the brand that is Oregon Ducks football. If it wasn’t for Kelly, Marcus Mariota might not be the player that he is in the draft. And you can say that about a ton of other players that dawned the multitude of jerseys that the Ducks have worn over the years.

Kelly right now is a 1-win team in San Francisco and in his first season by the bay, he isn’t making a strong candidacy to make a return for 2017. The 9’ers owner Jed York will fire Kelly fastest then some of his former players can run the forty and Kelly will be on the NFL streets looking for a new home. Honestly, I don’t know if there is another job for Chip Kelly in the NFL right now. That’s nothing against Kelly, there has been plenty of coaches that haven’t found success in the NFL on their first try out of the college game. The most recent being Pete Carroll. Kelly can bring what he has learned from coaching in the big leagues back to college and improve the Oregon program drastically from what it has been since he left.

The Ducks need Kelly back, he is their guy and there is no way around that. When Kelly gets fired they sound send him an offer right away, in fact they should be waiting outside 49’er HQ with the offer in hand and meet him in the parking lot. For the way the Ducks have been playing football for the past decade, Kelly is the best in the business in making that type of game successful in college. It seems like a perfect marriage, quite frankly because the first time it worked to near perfection. If Kelly can get on the plane and bring home a top 10 recruiting class, the Pac 10 could be seeing the return of a playoff representative. If I am the Pac 10 commissioner, I would be calling Chip Kelly and imploring him to take the open position at Oregon so that the Pac 10 can have a shot at bringing home the National Title. If I am an Oregon Duck fan, I would be routing against the 9’ers for the rest of the season and praying that Kelly will be dawning his black and green polo on the sidelines next season.
