NY 500 V

NY 500 #15
An interesting extended weekend for us New York sports fans. The Knicks and Nets had crazy weekends on the court with the Nets losing a home and away against the Bucks making their record 5-15 at the quarter way point of the season. The Knicks had two impressive wins against Western Conference teams—the Kings and Timberwolves. Melo against the wolves had 26 points to lead the Knicks past the Timberwolves in the Garden. On Sunday night the Knicks just edged out the Kings even with Damarcus Cousins dropping 36 and 12 in the Garden. Derrick Rose almost messed around and got a triple double going for 20/ 6/and 6, while Brandon Jennings had 19 points off the bench.

The Yankees and Mets both introduced new players to their roster over the weekend. The Mets officially announced Yoenis Cespesdes in front of the media. The Mets need to continue to improve a roster that was plagued by injuries in 2016 in order to compete in 2017. The Yankees signed veteran Matt Holliday to a one-year $13 Million deal following Carlos Beltran returning to Houston for one-year and $16 Million. Holliday will be a good right-handed bat in the middle of the Yankees order. Holliday will be a key veteran in a young mix of talent that the Yankees have in the organization. After a 2016 were the Yankees had a plethora of players that could dawn the DH role any given day. After trading Beltran, Mccain, and A-Rod retiring, the Yankees going into 2017 had no player that could be the everyday DH. With Holliday in the middle of the order the Yankees will instantly have a better chance of making the playoffs than they would without him. Holliday will mean a lot to this team, more than people think. Even if Holliday doesn’t have an incredible year stat wise, he will make a big difference in the development of Gary Sanchez, Greg Bird, and Aaron Judge.

The Jets and Giants had similar weeks, which is something that hasn’t happened much this season for the teams. The Giants 6 game winning streak was snapped by the Steelers in Pittsburgh on Sunday, but they are still in the playoff picture. The Giants are in the middle of the hardest stretch of their season with the Dallas Cowboys coming to town next week on Sunday night, Eli and the boys will have to play playoff football from here on out. This is December football and if the Giants want to be playing in January they will have to run the football better. The Jets as I said in my Honest Review, it was an ass kicking and I will be looking forward to playing the 9’ers on Sunday.
