Day 112

Fresh Start_112: Dial it back
Everyone calling for Tony Romo to comeback and start for the Cowboys stop it! Prescott is a rookie quarterback that has seemed like a rookie quarterback until the past 2 weeks. There are learning curves for every QB in this league and it takes time for quarterbacks sometimes to adjust. Other times, like Dak for example, take the league by storm, and towards the end of the season tapper off to be average.

Prescott so far has had an above average season for being a 4th round rookie quarterback, exceeding any expectations that the Cowboys or the league had for him. Prescott has thrown for 3,139 yards, 20 touchdowns, and only 4 interceptions with a 65.8% completion percentage. The amazing offensive line that fellow rookie Ezekiel Elliott is running behind can only save Prescott for so long. With the weather being a factor, the Dallas receivers couldn’t get open as fast, making Prescott hold the ball for longer and take sacks. There is no question that Prescott is talented and will be a good solid NFL quarterback for a couple of years, but let’s not forget that last night was Prescott’s 13th career game. The angry mob calling for his head after one bad loss, would’ve been doing the same thing if Romo was under center last night.

The Cowboys are in an interesting dilemma at the QB position but a late year benching of Dak Prescott will not solve anything. Let the young man learn because the Cowboys still have the underhand in the division and have already clinched a playoff spot. Also, let’s not forget that this team has the best record in the NFL barring any late year disasters. Prescott and the Cowboys have Tampa Bay, Detroit, and Philly to round out the year, with the next two games being at home. The way I see it, the Cowboys will wind up 13-3 winning the NFC East and clinching home field for the playoffs. These are exciting times to be a Cowboy fan so don’t cause yourself extra stress by calling for the head of the quarterback that got you to where you are now. For heaven’s sake, Prescott might end up with the offensive rookie of year at the end of the season anyway, so do like Aaron Rodgers and R-E-L-A-X. Losing to any division opponent is hard, especially at the end of the year, but this time it’s not the end of the world.
