Day 256

Fresh Start_256: The Big Braggadocious Bandwagon
Is Lonzo Ball really going to get drafted in the lottery? Is an NBA franchise going to waste a lottery pick on a player that will be out of the league within 5 years? How can Lonzo and his brothers succeed in the NBA with their father Lavar stealing every inch of the spotlight? All of this just doesn’t add up, nothing about the Ball Brand or the Ball family for that matter makes any sense as a successful brand. Lavar has already cost Lonzo millions of dollars with the comments made about Adidas and Nike. Lonzo could have multi-million-dollar shoe deal with Nike or Adidas with them helping Lonzo create a brand bigger than his father’s mouth.

What Lavar Ball is doing should be recognized by Lonzo and all of this nonsense should have ended before the NCAA Tournament. Since Lonzo was put on display during the tournament with UCLA, the basketball world got a front seat in the saga that is the Ball family. Lavar ran his mouth and put unnecessary targets on Lonzo’s back that will be exploited when Lonzo gets drafted. I cannot imagine what the private meetings with teams must be like with Lavar representing Lonzo.

Lavar is sabotaging his sons career without any protest, and it has put a red flag on the Ball family in the NBA. There is no way that Lonzo Ball is the NBA by the time LaMelo declares for the NBA draft after his one and done season at UCLA. The antics of Lavar Ball and the insanity that comes out his mouth will drive an extremely talented basketball player out of the league. It only makes sense that way. No player in the history the league has had a successful career with the type of off the court distractions that Lonzo Ball will have to deal with.

Releasing his new show before he has even clocked a single minute in the NBA, letting his father speak for him and drive shoe companies, sponsorships, and even NBA franchises out of the realm of possibility. I just can’t see a picture where Lonzo is the superstar that his ability shows with his father making the moves that determine what Lonzo will do. I mean c’mon, releasing a shoe that costs $495 ($695 for shoe sizes 14 and 15) and have Lavar comment “If you can’t afford the ZO2’s, you’re not a big baller!” Really Lavar!? Just because I don’t want to waste almost $500 for a pair of shoes I’m not a “big baller,” get over yourself, or the NBA will make you.

The Ball family is living in a fantasy land that will come crashing down, and it really is sad because three wonderfully talented basketball players’ careers will be the ransom for a demented, big mouth, loony toon who is just money hunger. The Ball brothers aren’t reality stars, they are basketball players, this isn’t the latest episode of the Kardashians. I’m not rooting against Lonzo or his brothers, I am just preparing for the inviable, and watching a train at the top speed running down the track without breaks. So, where ever Lonzo Ball will get drafted this June, just prepare for an atomic disaster to follow.
