In between the Pinstripes #31

In between the Pinstripes_31: Exactly what was needed
Well that’s 7 in a row for the bombers. A good outing by Masahiro Tanaka going 7 innings to get his 5th straight win. Tanaka would give up 10 hits, 4 runs (3 earned), and striking out 6 over those 7 innings. That 7-inning performance is exactly what the doctor ordered after the marathon in Chicago last night.

Gary Sanchez had his first great game tonight, going 3-3 with 2 RBI’s, raising his average to .281. Sanchez needed a game like this one in Cincinnati tonight to get back on the right track after missing a month with that biceps injury. Sanchez earns the Focus Player of the Day with that effort, and I am optimistic that Sanchez will to a degree start to look like the Gary Sanchez that we saw last September. An honor mention tonight is Matt Holiday for going 2-4, with a homer, and 3 runs scored. Clippard and Layne threw a combined 26 pitches in the 2 innings in relief of Tanaka, so the bullpen should be ready to go tomorrow with basically a full day of rest.

Looking ahead to tomorrow; the bombers go for the abbreviated 2-game sweep of the Reds when they send C.C. Sabathia on the mound against Cincinnati’s Tim Adleman. Adleman is coming off a win against Pittsburgh where he went 6 innings giving up 6 hits, 2 runs, and striking out 5. Adleman has never faced the bombers in his short 2-year career, and at this point in the season—he might not want too. The Yanks are absolutely on fire coming off the 10-4 win, and show no signs of slowing down. Hopefully the Yanks can make it 8 in a row heading into an off day than a long weekend series against the Astros at home. But, for now the Yankees have won again so you can “Start spreading the news” and celebrate another winning streak, and possible sweep.
