Day 274
Fresh Start_274: Changing things that don’t make sense
I’m not that good at math
but having less time to score would lead to less ties. The NFL changed the
rules in overtime from 15 minutes to 10 minutes. This rule change was supposed to
make a change because the amount of ties that the NFL had this year.
How is that supposed to
work? How does a less amount of time to score lead to less ties? Wouldn’t the
amount of ties go up because of the less amount of time. The less amount of
time would lead to lesser drives, which means the field goal kicker should just
go home when the games go to overtime.
If a team goes done the
field and uses up 8 minutes and kicks a field goal, the other team has to go
done the field in 2 minutes and score a touchdown to avoid a tie. Which means
the team that gets the ball second will turn the football field into a NFL
Blitz game or a shorten game of Madden.
Teams will be more laid
back on defense if let’s say the team gets into field goal range to give the
offense a chance. It will lead to sloppy play and just damage the product on
the field. I really don’t understand why the NFL needs change the OT rule when
there is other gapping wholes that are just apparently being glossed over in
the league office.
That just doesn’t seem
like it would lead to less ties. Virtually eliminating the field goal kickers, cutting
done on the time limit you have to score, and are personally making this rule
to get rid of ties.
I just don’t understand
how the NFL works and why the rules that they change rules that don’t make
sense for the time. So, let’s just ride this crazy roller coaster and roll with
the punches, because the senile commissioner that is Roger Goodell is crazy as
ever.
