NY 500 XXXII

NY 500 #32
The NFL draft is over, the Jets and Giants prepare for Training Camp, sign the UDFA’s that they like, and possibly sign a late free agent to fill out the roster to head into the Preseason. The Mets and Yankees are in two different directions at the end of April. The Rangers threw away a game that went into double OT and fall 2-0 in the Eastern Conference Semi’s.

Starting with Jets and Giants draft picks. I went into depth with the Jets draft picks yesterday and the overall grade that I would give this haul is a “B.” I like this group and am optimistic with the players that were selected, and the Giants should feel the same. With Engram (TE), Tomlinson (DT), Webb (QB), Gallman (RB), Moss (DE), and Bisnowaty (OT) is a good group of players that can better a playoff team in the Giants. Texting one of my friends about Davis Webb when the Giants selected him, and I brought up the last California Golden Bear to sit behind a Hall of Fame quarterback. I’m not saying that Davis Webb will be Aaron Rodgers, but he will have a better likelihood of succeeding in the Giants offense with the help from Eli and head coach Ben Mcadoo.

I went into detail about the Mets in today’s “Fresh Start” with my displeasure of the way that they are handling the franchise. The Mets are in one of the worst stretches that a team can go through in the month of April, and with these injuries to their two best players Yoenis Cespedes and Noah Syndergaard for some time. Cespesdes will be out for 2 weeks, while Syndergaard will most likely be out 3 months with his injury.

The Yankees are coming off a great month where they are tied with the Orioles for 1st place in the AL East when they aren’t supposed to be winning as much as they are and this is a great start but there are still 5 months left in the season. Be optimistic but hold your breath with the depth of the rotation and how bad Girardi is with the 3-headed dragon of Betances, Clippard, and Chapman. But that’s New York, and why we love it, let’s see what happens this week.
