In between the Pinstripes #32

In between the Pinstripes_32: And, this is why I won’t go back to Cincinnati
You can’t win every game of the season; I would also like to welcome the New York Yankees to double digit losses. I would also like to halt the pitch forks and riots toward C.C. Sabathia. I will always have a soft spot in my heart for C.C. for the 2009 season, but I was also on his rear end about the 2013 season, which was the worst season of his career. C.C. is now 2-2 after a 6-inning, 7 hits, 5 earned runs, 2 walks, and 2 strike outs. Just like how the season is going incredibly great, it’s still early for Sabathia to turn the season around.

It’s always hard to try and find a positive in a loss that was a loss where you just didn’t have it that day. But, the Focus Player of the Day is Didi Gregorius. Didi went 3-4 with 2 RBI’s and a run scored last night against the Reds. Gary Sanchez also hit an absolute bomb for his only hit that went 450 feet into the seats. It would have been nice to have swept the Reds, but a shot back to reality before a weekend set with one of the best teams in baseball, and oh by the way Derek Jeter’s number is being retired on Sunday night.

Looking ahead to the opener of this series; it’s tough to start a series against the best pitcher in baseball right now in Dallas Keuchel. Keuchel is 5-0 with a 1.88 ERA in 7 starts this season for Houston. His opposition is Michael Pineda who is coming off a no decision in Chicago where pitched well through six innings but not well enough to get the win. Getting back to Keuchel; he is 3-2 in five career starts against the bombers with a 1.63 ERA in 38.2 innins with a .185 batting average against. The bombers will have an uphill battle against a guy who hasn’t lost yet this year. Even with the loss to Cincinnati, the Yankees are still 21-10 and only a .5 game behind Baltimore for the lead in the division. Hopefully, the bombers can win or split the series this weekend, regardless it will be a great series.
