Day 258

Fresh Start_258: What on Earth can be next for the Mets
Matt Harvey has been suspended for 3 days without out pay by the Mets for “violating team rules.” The Mets haven’t disclosed what those violations were with Met manager Terry Collins “we are keeping this in house, like it should be.”

While I agree that the Mets should keep this in house, it should have never got out in the first place. Harvey didn’t start his planned start today in the 7-0 loss to the Marlins, because he started serving his suspension. It can all be avoided if you just sent him home for 3 days, it will get out on his own on Monday or Tuesday when the press notices that Harvey didn’t show up to the stadium that night. Putting Collins in a position to put out a fire that hasn’t started, and giving vague answers to the press at the start of the suspension only makes the press guess what is going on.

This doesn’t even scratch the surface of the season from hell that the Mets are currently going through in 2017, but you at least have to make it easier for yourself, not worse. But then again, if they knew what they were doing, they wouldn’t be in this position in the first place.
