Day 52
Fresh Start_52: Attention Passengers
One of our engines is
down and Eric Decker is out for the season. Decker is going to need season
ending shoulder surgery, with an eight-month recovery period. The next man up
mentality applies here to the absolute highest extent. Quincy Enunwa needs to
step up and become the receiver that he has hinted at throughout the year.
Austin Seferian Jenkins needs to be the tight-end that the Jets need and have
wanted for the past four years. Seferian Jenkins has shown spurts of being an
all-pro tight-end with four touchdowns in only seven games.
Eric Decker will be
missed tremendously and his production will not be surpassed this season. Decker
is the best number two target in the league. Decker had 1,027 receiving yards
and twelve touchdowns last year and would have been a huge part of the past two
games and possible have had an impact to win one of those games, based on the
production and talent level of Decker. Ryan Fitzpatrick has had a tough time already
this season, leading the league in interceptions and losing one of his favorite
targets. Brandon Marshall has to step up even more than he already has for the
Jets to be competitive. I still feel confident that the Jets will win the next
six weeks, even with the tough Arizona Cardinals defense on Monday Night this
week. Matt Fortè will have to come out of the coffin that he has been in since
Kansas City to get pressure off of Fitzpatrick and let the monster receivers
that the Jets have to make plays, ultimately getting the immense pressure that
has been the Jets defense since 2010. The calling card is out there, and the
man who answers the call will be showered with applause from Jets fans
everywhere. Planes don’t need every engine to fly, but let’s hope the 2016
season plane doesn’t crash and burn.
