NY 500 XI
NY 500 #11
Great weekend for New
York sports and Sunday night as a sports fan. The Rangers are playing really
well splitting the weekend going 1-1. Last night the Rangers played extremely
well winning 6-1 against the Tampa Bay Lighting. Antti Raanta started at goalie
for the Rangers and new addition Michael Grabner made hats fly onto the ice
with the first Rangers hat trick of the season. Rick Nash had two points (one
goal, one assist) and J.T. Miller and Jimmy Vessey scored as well and drove the
Lighting out of the Garden last night. The Rangers also lead the NHL in scoring
extremely early on in the season with 3.9 goals per game. The Islanders had one
game over the weekend, on Sunday, and won against the Maple Leafs (5-1). Five different
Islanders scored last night, and the Islanders are seventh in scoring in the
league with 3 goals per game and have 8 points early on in the season.
The Giants had a bye week
this week and hope the Giant fans had a nice week off. The Jets scared every
single one of their fans yesterday in Cleveland and for good reason. The Jets
didn’t wake up until the second half, and Todd Bowles summed it up with this, “you
have to have a f----ing attitude when you’re getting your ass kicked.” The Jets
certainly did that in the second half, scoring 21 unanswered points and coming
away with their second win in as many weeks. The next week for the Jets is in
Miami against the Dolphins and for the Giants, they are at home against Philly.
I was also wrong about
the Nets going 0-82 this season, winning Friday night against the Indiana
Pacers (103-94) lead by their all-star Brook Lopez. Lopez had 26 points and 5
boards against the Pacers in the Nets home opener. The Nets would take a step
toward 1-81 with the lost against the Milwaukee Bucks thanks to a tip in by
Bucks Center John Henson at the buzzer. Bojan Bogdanovic lead Brooklyn in the
lost with 26 points and 8 rebounds. The New York Knicks, following the lost to
the defending champs on opening night, won in their home opener beating the
Memphis Grizzlies (111-104). Carmelo Anthony almost messed around and got a
triple-double, going for 20, 6, and 5 for his fans in the Garden. The second “Super
Team” looked decent with the talent on the floor. Joakim Noah also almost had a
triple-double having 6, 10,7. Noah showed that he still has talent that he
showed in Chicago and will help the Knickerbockers a tremendous amount, and
might have had the steal of the off season. As I said this is the best time of
the year to be a sports fan, and a New York sports fan at that. Hope you all
had a great weekend. HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
