Day 91

Fresh Start_91: What the hell is going on out there!?
What is wrong with the Green Bay Packers? The Packers have the raining NFL MVP in Aaron Rodgers they don’t look like a team that has any idea what is going on or how to play football. The culture in Green Bay might need an overhaul moving forward. The Packers now have four straight games and they have got out played in each and every game in one facet of the game or another. From the offensive play calling to the defense blowing coverages and even Mike McCarthy looking like a first year head coach. This is a team that not too long ago won a Superbowl. This team was a playoff team a year ago and made it to the divisional round.

In a league that is pass driven as ever before, and with a top tier quarterback the Packers on paper look like they have the ability to succeed. But with the lack of a running back the team has gone to the dumpster. The Packers have 3 rushing touchdowns and they are all by Aaron Rodgers. No running back has a rushing touchdown for the Packers this season. Now the injury bug has bitten the running back position worse than any other group of players or team in the NFL. In a division where the division crown is wide open and if you play a little more than adequate, the division in most years is yours. With the fourth straight loss opens the door to the Detroit Lions and the Minnesota Vikings. The Packers are nothing short of terrible this season, and their season, safe to say, is over. This team needs to change the entire coaching staff and get a significant player overhaul to match the play making ability of their quarterback. Their offensive play calling is nothing short of a jumbled mess that a fourth grader conceived during recess. The stop & go routes that Jordy Nelson and Randell Cobb have been running for the entire season just don’t work anymore. If the Packers don’t stop what they are doing, they will make Aaron Rodgers look like Andrew Luck i.e. a human punching bag. The offensive line can’t hold blocks for that long and Aaron Rodgers can’t keep scrambling around and avoiding tackles like he is.

Rodgers looks completely lost at times, and it might not be his fault. A quarterback of his caliber has an idea of what coverages look like and understand how to beat that said coverage. He stares at his receivers after a miss communication on a pass, like a parent who is disappointed with their child’s actions. Rodgers looks to the sidelines like he should be calling the plays and they should just give him the head coaching job and call the plays. It’s code red in Green Bay and hopefully for the NFL they will figure it out next season.
