Honest Review #9

Honest Review #9-M.I.A. in Miami
Well that was a typical Jet loss. The Jets grabbed the lead with 5:47 left to go in the game, only to give the lead back to Miami due to an offside penalty by the Jets on the ensuing kickoff. Penalties was a huge issue for the Jets the entire game, collecting 10 for 77 yards against them. Ryan Fitzpatrick didn’t help the Jets too much, throwing two interceptions, with one coming in the redzone. The Jets were just 1/5 in the redzone when trying to score a touchdown.

The first three trips into the redzone were points, but by the foot of Nick Folk. Then the interception, then obviously the touchdown to Jalin Marshall. Another problem for the Jets was third down efficiency. New York only went 3/11 on third down. Matt Fortè played well, having 92 yards on the ground with a touchdown. Brandon Marshall also played well (when he wasn’t being attacked by Byron Maxwell) having six catches for 45 yards and leading the team in receptions. Marshall needs to find his way into the endzone in Week 11 to get this offense going.

The Jets defense has shown once again why they are one of the best in the league. The defense didn’t allow Jay Ajayi to get loose at any point in the game. Yes, they did allow Ajayi get over 100 yards on the ground, but they locked him up for 3 quarters. Most of those yards where on his 20-yard touchdown runs, and the runs that would ice the game, with 2 minutes or less in the game. The Jets defense was in a bend but don’t break mentality and it worked for most of the game. The reasons that the Jets lost this game was simply because they killed themselves with penalties, turnovers, and poor special teams. If you lose those battles, you will most likely loss the football game. The good news for the Jets and Jet fans, the Jets have a much needed bye week this upcoming week, so they will have time to prepare for Los Angeles Rams and then the Patriots for the following week. I like to say that the most important football in the regular season is on either side of the bye week. You need to play well before the bye and you need to play even better on the latter half of the bye week. Us as fans get a break from the 3 hour plus heart attacks that we endure each and every week. So as always LET’S GO J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS!
