NY 500 XII
NY 500 #12
Good weekend for New York
sports as it has been for every weekend lately. The Rangers continue to score
goals and have continued to lead the NHL in goals per game with 4.6 and also
are 11th in the league in penalty killing. The Rangers continued
their winning streak win two wins over the weekend, extending the streak to
five straight. The Rangers beat the Bruins and Jets over the weekend, both by
the score of 5-2. The success of the Rangers as an offensive machine is very
small and extremely early in an 82 game season. The Islanders lost in a shoot-out
against Edmonton over the weekend 4-3. The Islanders haven’t had that great of
a season so far, but like I just said it’s extremely early in the year. The Islanders
are 12th in the league in scoring (2.4 per) and on a three game
losing streak, the last two via a loss in a shoot-out. The Islanders play Vancouver
tonight and the Rangers play next on Tuesday against, guess who, Vancouver.
The Jets and Giants had
different types of days’ yesterday following their 1PM EST kick-offs. The Giants
stay in the division with a needed home win against the rival Eagles and the
Jets now second guess everything they have done over the past two seasons with
the heart breaking loss to the Dolphins. The message after a loss from the
players after a loss, has been you need face adversity straight on. The coach
Todd Bowles will get a ton of heat today and throughout the week after the
loss, even though he doesn’t deserve much. The blame will fall on Bowles
because of the Quarterback issues that have arisen in Gotham once again. Ryan Fitzpatrick
might not play again this season following a knee injury he suffered late in the
third quarter. He did play again in the game, but this injury might usher in
the Bryce Petty era that Jet fans have been pleading for. The season might be
over for 2016 after falling to 3-6. The audition for the lottery pick for Jets starts
now, and the question of “do the Jets draft a QB?” arises with it. The Jets
need an edge rushing backer, offensive line help, and depth at Wide receiver. The
team from there on is a good team that is under performing. Don’t fire Bowles
for this season please.
The Knicks and Nets had
the same type of weekend that the Giants and Jets had respectively. The Nets
lost on Friday night to the Hornets thanks to Kemba Walker going for 30. The Knicks
had a decent but confusing weekend, because early on in this season, the team
is extremely inconsistent. The Knicks looked good in a home win against the
Bulls where Kristaps Porzingis scored 28 points. The loss to the Jazz is
confusing, because Utah is not a good team.
