Views from far far away- Don’t talk to him
Russell Westbrook does
not like Kevin Durant at all. From Durant’s shots over the summer that were
passive aggressively aimed toward Westbrook’s direction. Durant and the Golden
State once again beat Westbrook’s Thunder, even with Westbrook going berzerk
once again having a triple double in Golden State. At the end of the day
Westbrook’s 27,15, and 13 isn’t good enough to beat a team like the Warriors. The
Thunder don’t have the secondary scoring option, and someone on that team has
to step up. The Boston Celtics have separated themselves from the pack in the
East winning 6 out of their last 8. Lebron might be seeing a familiar team in
the Eastern Conference this year. Don’t overlook the Celtics, they are a dangerous
team.
Speaking of Boston, my
Player of the Week is Boston Celtics point guard Isiah Thomas. Thomas is one of
the most explosive players in the league, and becoming a Superstar right in
front of our eyes. Thomas’ week went like this; in 3 games he averaged: 34
points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds, and only 3.3 turnovers over that span. Not turning
the ball over and being able to affect 49 points per game (at least) is
something that you don’t see in a player in a week or season to begin with.
This isn’t something new for Isiah Thomas, he is just becoming a great player
and figuring out the NBA. My Rookie of the Week is the same old—same old
process. The Process (Joel Embiid) is having an incredible season. But, for
this week (which included a night that he had off) it’s still the best week by
a rookie. Embiid in the 3 games that he played he averaged: 24 points, 9.6
rebounds, and 3.3 blocks. To have another week where he almost averages a
double double is just absolutely ludicrous for a rookie.
After an electric week in
the NBA, this week is just a lesser week to a degree. It starts tonight on TNT
with the Wizards traveling to the garden to face a troubled Knicks team.
Carmelo Anthony might not be in New York much longer if they keep losing. The Minnesota
Timberwovles go to L.A. to face the Chris Paul-less Clippers. Tomorrow night,
the Houston Rockets will go to Oracle and see if they can knock off the
Warriors on ESPN at 8PM EST. After that on ESPN, Paul George will be in the
Staples Center to play an interesting game against the Lakers. Moving to
Saturday night on ABC the best game of the week will be happening in Cleveland.
The Cavs host the San Antonio Spurs in Prime Time, and could possibly be a
Finals Preview. Getting into the work week next week, the Pacers will host Melo
and the Knicks in a playoff rematch from forever ago (2013). That game is on
TNT at 8PM EST. Next Tuesday, another interesting game will be broadcasted on
NBA TV. At 7PM EST the Spurs travel North of the boarder to face DeMar DeRozen
and the Toronto Raptors. It will be an interesting week so don’t miss out, and
make sure you step behind the line when you shoot—and I will be back next week.
