Day 23

Fresh Start_23: C.C. Sabackia
Last night in the Bronx, the fans in attendance had the opportunity to witness time travel. C.C. Sabathia has shown me that he has figured out how to pitch with less velocity. He went six and a third innings, giving up three hits, and seven strikeouts. He looked unhittable at times and just straight up fooling dodger hitters.
Throughout this year, C.C. has thrown the ball extremely for a thirty-six year old at the end of his career. This also coming off a season that ended by going into rehab for alcoholism. C.C. going in on his conscience and bettering himself as a man, husband, and father. He also seems to have gotten his head back and has bettered his pitching. Flashback to 2013 where Sabathia went 14-13 and looked lost out on the mound losing velocity each and every start. It looked like a guy that was just going into shambles. The next season he 3-4 in an injured season, and not really turning it around last season. This season was not only a needed resurgence for Sabathias’ psyche, but for his wallet as well. His contract is up at the end of next season, and if he wants to continue to play, has to preform well for a guy at the end of his career. No one will pay Sabathia anything near his current contract, but he will get around maybe eight to ten million dollars for a team. Sabathia over the years has been vocal about how much he loves the Yankee organization and how he wants to continue to play for them.
In his time in New York, Sabathia has been everything he needs to be, and that is just an overall workhorse. Even in his worst season in 2013 C.C. still threw over two hundred innings. This season Sabathia has thrown over one hundred and sixty innings with a couple starts to go. Now I’m not going to sit here and say Sabathia is the ace of the staff or a cy young candidate but he is preforming well and better than many thought just like the entire team, which has been driven out by many including myself. I am enjoying this great late run with the team just two games back of the second wild card spot. The Yanks are hot and it is good for baseball, the bombers play at 4:05PM EST against the dodgers at the stadium.
