Well it was a roller coaster
of weekend for New York Sports fans. Let’s start off in Buffalo where the New
York Jets had an offensive explosion and looked like one of the league’s
offenses and the defense took a step back. Eric Decker, Ryan Fitzpatrick,
Quincy Enunwa, and Matt Fortè looked nothing short of amazing. This Jets team
is looking really good and could quite possibly pull off a great road win in
Kansas City next week. In Metlife Stadium on Sunday the New York Football
Giants narrowly escaped the New Orleans Saints yesterday. The game was not
played well at all on either side of the ball for both teams. If I was a Giant
fan I would be concerned about the offense and the defense looks confused at
times. Olivier Vernon has not shown up yet to play having only one assisted
tackle yesterday and four total tackles last week in Dallas. I am not panicking
over five tackles in two weeks, but the offensive lines on the Cowboys and New
Orleans Saints have just manhandled Vernon and his huge contract. Matt Fortè
has earned his contract in Buffalo Thursday night with three hundred yards and
three touchdowns. So far the Giants have over paid for the defense with the
offense is stalling as you would expect with a defensive coach.
Moving on to baseball
where this roller coaster gets even more wild. The New York Mets took care of
business with a bitter ending. The Mets swept the Minnesota Twins but they lost
Jacob deGrom for the season most likely with discomfort in his elbow, and will
need surgery to repair his ulnar nerve in his throwing elbow. The injury bug
has bitten yet again in Queens and damages their chances once the Wild Card
game comes around. The Mets will most likely make the playoffs due to the
easiest schedule in all of baseball. Now on to the disappointing weekend for
the New York Yankees. I could go on for thousands of words about the bombers,
but I will say this… STOP PITCHING TO HANLEY RAMIREZ! Ramirez destroyed the
Yankees this weekend hitting four homers in four games with two game winners
one on Thursday walking off the Red Sox and an eighth inning bomb over the
monster. Hanley looks like he is taking the crown from David Ortiz as the King
of Yankee Killers. Not only did the Red Sox bring out the brooms against the
Yanks, but they also destroyed the chances for the baby bombers to make the playoffs.
The run for October is pretty much over as the Yankees are six games out of the
division and now four games out of the Wild Card. Seattle and Detroit are red
hot and closing in so, it was a great and unbelievable and amazing to watch but
I bid the season ado.
