First game ball of 2016

Thursday Game Ball
Just an instant classic last night in Denver. Hard fought, grinded out game, for all the old-fashioned football fans. A 21-20 narrow victory for the Broncos, thanks to one leg of Graham Gano, who pushed a kick left flashing fans back to last year’s playoffs where Blair Walsh did the same. Trevor Siemian weathered the storm, not really showing much promise, but getting the job done. Siemian threw two interceptions that should have been completed. One was just a tipped ball, and the other was a poorly thrown ball that was under thrown. Siemian was 18/26 for 178, 1 score, and those 2 picks. Siemian did show some athleticism running a few times, extending plays, and throwing balls into tight windows. He is still a rookie though, meaning he will have to learn a lot about the position. Siemian did throw balls leading receivers in harm’s way a couple of times, which is a red flag, but for the most part not a bad debut for the seventh round pick from Northwestern.
Cam Newton went 18/33 for 194 a score and an interception. Cam also ran eleven times for 54 yards and a touchdown. Kelvin Benjamin had a nice return catching six balls for ninety-one yards and a touchdown. Benjamin is Newton’s favorite target and it is good to have back. Now, let’s get to the game ball… The first game ball of 2016 is C.J. Anderson. Anderson ran the ball twenty times for ninety-two yards and a touchdown. Also catching four balls for forty-seven yards and another score. Anderson was the constant on the offense for the Broncos, and he will have to be with Siemian getting used to the league week by week. Anderson was re-signed in the offseason for $11.9 million over three years. Get ready for Sunday, it should be fun!
