Honest Recap #2: Explosion in Buffalo
“It never is easy” said
my grandmother said just mere seconds after the final whistle blew in Buffalo
last night. And if I’m staying true to the title of this column; my grandmother
is nothing but 100% right about the Jets. In a high scoring, fantasy football
busting, football game; the Jets always seem to make every game an emotional roller
coaster which drives there fans up a wall each and every second of the game. Ryan
Fitzpatrick finished with 374 yards going 24/34 and one score, but in the first
quarter fumbled the ball once (almost twice) which would have completely
changed the game. Brandon Marshall gave all the Jets fans a heart attack when
he got pulled down on a facemask by Ronald Darby in the second quarter.
Marshall’s knee buckled and looked like a season ending injury that turned into
just a mini scare. Matt Fortè has just cashed in his entire contract last night
in Buffalo. The offense was rolling on all cylinders last night and it was a pleasant
look at what is to come for this year and the years moving forward. Quincy
Enunwa was shaped shifted into the new top target of Fitzpatrick. Marshall had
106 receiving yards, Eric Decker caught six balls for 125 and a touchdown. The Bills
defense couldn’t catch up with anything that the Jets where doing last night.
The Jets showed that they could possibly have one of top offenses in the NFL.
The defense was a little
shaky for me at times last night. There was a busted coverage on the Marcus
Goodwin eighty-yard play. Darrelle Revis is getting older and has played
terrible in the first two weeks of this season. Even with Brandon Marshall
saying after the game that he is the best in the game, I am hesitating in
following that statement and am cautious about saying Revis is the best in the
game anymore. I still think that the Jets defense is the third best in the NFL
with the best front line in the league, but with Revis Island taking refugees I
am wondering when the Island will have to shut down its doors. The Jets get a
well needed couple of extra days to prepare for the trip to Kansas City. Hopefully
Jets fans everywhere can witness another successful business trip and not see a
horrible loss in the loudest place to play. See you next week and as always LET’S
GO JETS!
