In between the Pinstripes #16

In between the Pinstripes_16: All hail the honorable Judge
What a way to start a new streak! Thanks to 4 home runs, 7 innings from Tanaka, and a 9-1 explosive rubber match win against the White Sox. In a “getaway day” the bombers have one last hurrah before a six-game road trip to Pittsburgh and Boston. Tanaka had his best outing of the year with his final line tonight being: 7 innings, 6 hits, 1 run, and 6 strike outs on 96 pitches. The mantra of good pitching is something I will not get tired of. Hopefully that can continue on the road trip having a tough early 6-game road trip with 2 really good pitching staff’s that will be tough to score runs on.

Speaking of the bats, the bombers made the Bronx a launching pad with 4 total homers. The biggest of all being Aaron Judge’s 448-foot monster shot into the left field bleachers after Starlin’s 3-run blast. As John Sterling puts it “a back to back and a belly to belly.” Judge went 2-3 with that homer, a walk, and a RBI. For that great effort and incredible strength, he is the Focus Player of the Day. The question of “how far will the ball go?” is a great question that nobody has an answer too. It seems like every time the ball comes off his bat, it goes farther and farther. Dare I say, he might actually be stronger than Giancarlo Stanton. The comparison is not by any means outlandish, but the Home Run Derby between these two HAS to happen in Miami this July. I couldn’t think of any better way to send off Chris Berman in his final Homer Run Derby.

After an off day tomorrow; the bombers to the steel city and play the Pirates for a 3-game weekend set. The first matchup on Friday is C.C. and Tyler Glasnow. Sabathia is coming off a great 7.1 inning winning effort against the Cards. Glasnow on the other hand is coming off a rough 5-inning, 6 hit, 6 run (4 earned), and 2 walk outing against the Cubs. Glasnow might not want to show up to the ballpark on Friday when the bombers come into town. The way that the middle of the order is hitting right now, well it won’t be pretty for Glasnow if he doesn’t have his A-stuff. But, the Yanks won today so you can “Start spreading the news” and keep this happiness until Friday. Tomorrow will be rough, Friday can you come faster?
