NY 500 XXX

NY 500 #30
With the NHL playoffs 3 games in, and the baseball season almost 2 weeks old; here we go! The Rangers have struggled in the first round against Montreal, letting two games get away from them. There is nothing more that you can say about this series. The team is playing hard, hitting harder than the Canadiens, but can’t for the life of them get the puck out of their own zone late in games. Henrik Lundqvist is playing out of his mind, and is the only reason that the Rangers aren’t down 3 games to none. Hopefully the hits will get to Montreal, but the Rangers have to click on offense (getting to Carey Price), and getting the puck into the Rangers zone more often than they have done at the start of their series.

The Yankees are second in the AL East and leading the Wild Card (even though it doesn’t matter). The bombers are also riding 7-game winning streak and just clicking on all cylinders. The New York Mets are coming off a heart-breaking series loss against the Miami Marlins, with the Mets bullpen imploding on itself, and needs massive improvement on top of Familia coming back. The Mets also need to find a constant offense somewhere in the order, and finally figuring out what on earth they want to do with Curtis Granderson, Michael Conforto, and Jay Bruce. Granderson is not an everyday centerfielder, and should be the one that gets traded instead of Conforto or Bruce. Cespesdes is on fire, but his bat will be hot and cold as usual, and Bruce looks like he will be a 25 homer/100 RBI type of season (which you cannot trade!).

For the rest of the New York sports world, you can just put out of your mind until the NFL draft because it is an absolute circus. Eli Manning is getting investigated due to an equipment scandal, the Jets are the Jets, Phil Jackson is bad mouthing Carmelo right in front of his face, and Jeremy Lin and the Nets think they can land a big-time free agent (which is absolutely false and hilarious). But, with that, that is it and that’s just New York.
